Art Supplement?

I was looking through the application and I saw that there was a section for an optional art supplement for many of the colleges I'm applying too. However, they ask for a 35 mm slide? I really want to show them my portfolio but I have no idea what a 35 mm slide is or how to make one. Does anybody on this board have experience with this?

You can either make your own slides or pay to have a professional photographer do it. Professional photography isn't cheap, but is probably worth it if art is a big part of your application. If you decide to have a photographer do it, ask if they've shot artwork before (as opposed to folks who've only done portraits) and get the rate quoted in advance. I had eight sets of fifteen slides shot for about $225. For cheap service, ask photography students at a university or technical college.

Many organizations are accepting digital photo disks now in place of slides, so if you can use a digital camera and find that these schools accept this alternative, you might do that.
