I’ve been doing art for some time, yet I’ve been told my art isn’t that good. Should I still send in a supplement, or will it hurt me?

well i don't know how good is your art, so i cannot answer the question.

If you are considering being an art major, I would not send it at all. If it is just to show an EC that you are passionate about, you can send it. Keep in mind that the adcoms usually send it to the correct dept to review. It could hurt if you don't think it is very good, but if you just want to show a creative side and let them know that you enjoy doing something, then it might be ok

No, I'm not going to do an art major. So it'll be OK?

Do you like your art? Who has told you it's not very good? Do you respect their opinions? If you send it, I would probably send a cover sheet stating that while you are not applying as an art major, you would like them to consider some art work as part of your application that shows .something that you really enjoy doing

I was actually going to say the exact things that Audi said! You wouldn't be asking us about sending your art if YOU didn't like it. Sure, send it. There are times when you don't have to listen to others' opinions-- trust yourself. Your art helps define who you are and to make you a well-rounded and interesting person no matter what you intend to study!

I've heard that if it's really not good, you shouldn't send it at all because it has the possibility of making u look bad. They say to submit it only if you have "exceptional talent in the arts."

have someone respectable (art department chir of your HS) rate it. Or, if youve won MANY prestigious art competitions (as i have), then you know your artowrk is good enough to send in

I disagree.

I don't see how it could possibly hurt you, except to perhaps annoy them with extra stuff. But I think the benefit outweighs that one risk.

I mean what are they gonna say. Oh, this non-art major is only MILDLY talented at art, reject him!! IMHO it can only help you!!

do you have any digital pics you could put up on photobucket, etc, that we could look at?

well i have a question. If i want to be in the dance program at a school should i fill out the art supplement or should i just figure it out later on with my college? The college that I am planning on doesn’t make you try out for the program so I didn’t think i would need to send in the art supplement. Plus I don’t have any recent videos online of my dances and my letter of recommendation from my dance teacher isn’t on my computer it’s on paper, and i’m slightly computer dumb and can’t figure out how to get it on there. also, is it a bad idea to send my letters of recommendation in by mail??
