<p>Just need some comfort. Kid moved to a school with a really good art program. I encourage kid to take some art---as it's generally a math & science school. Kid is not an artist. Kid loves art, but is (truthfully) not very good at art. Kid will not major in art. Kid does not have an art EC passion---just likes to do it for fun. As people are entering the college process, GPA's are starting to be compared. I'm realizing art (with no weighting) can be a GPA-crushing class even if you make good grades in it. Gahhhh. Can't a kid take a little art for fun????</p>
<p>yes, there is nothing wrong with taking electives, especially visual or performing arts. Colleges actually like the dedication it shows, especially if you do it every year.</p>
