Artistic acceptances MT/Acting class of 2026

Yesterday 2/22, DD received "No"s from Montclair (email stating update to the portal) and Missouri State (email). Just wanted to let everyone know decisions are rolling. Moving on…

Thank you. Did your daughter end up there?

The “no’s” are hard. Can’t wait for this to all be “said and done” and all these kids have landed somewhere that makes them feel positive and looking forward.

OU Acting - My D got a wait list letter

OU Acting - My D got a wait list letter about a week after her in person /on campus audition & has not heard anything since. She’s ok w/ that - there were many things she loved about the program but didn’t seem to mesh well with other things.

If anyone has a tech theatre kid (especially costuming) OU should definitely be a contender.

*I started to msg you back but then realized I was logged in on the wrong acct.

That’s great. My D is Acting, not MT, but has been talking w/ OkCity too. The scholarship offer does even say on the form it’s “not binding until May 1”. So if it’s a real contender, I would sign it and return it (to hold your scholarship) but add in the email body your final confirmation will depend on the final aid package. If your not sure hold out until the last day. I will say, I did not find the university aid / merit scholarships to be very generous compared to talent scholarships. So chances are there is not a lot more coming your way. As a pretty expensive institution it seems they put the bulk of their funds into the hands of the department reps.

My D is still hanging in there with Missouri State… Hoping the fact that she has not heard yet is a good thing. She is Acting, not MT.

San Diego State (BA Theatre Performance-MT) just sent emails. DD received a “no” to MT but they said
“However, the acting faculty is interested in your work and would like to know if you want to be considered for our acting classes and performance opportunities within our performance emphasis. To be clear, if you enroll at SDSU, there is no guarantee that you will be able to take the musical theatre performance classes.” She needs to respond by March 4th for further consideration.

I am cross posting this: Does anyone have information about possibilities of in-state tuition if you are admitted into MT at Indiana University? I know decisions aren’t out but we just got a FA letter and it is out of state cost. Some schools are saying that is a perk but I don’t have anything in my notes for Indiana. Any help appreciated.

UNCSA is out. It was a direction to portal and a no for us. Good luck to all!

I am sorry. For us too. My D said she felt like it was monopoly and she was told “go directly to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200.” April 1 can’t come fast enough (for me) and maybe the schools she is waiting on will be quicker than that. BAL to your child and all of those on this page!

This is such a hard time. They will all find their place and thrive! UNCSA takes about 30 kids out of a pool of over 1000! More selective than any ivy league. BAL to everyone.

Crazy and yes it sounds like many of these programs! Purchase College Acting BFA at 16 with about 1000 applicants, USC Acting BFA similar and CMU Acting BFA maybe even less. My D still waiting to hear from 5 programs and still has callbacks going on! I think they probably do all find their place but what a rough road. BAL to everyone.
