Arts and Sciences Vs. Wharton acceptances

Does anyone know if there is a large difference in the standards for acceptance for the College of Arts and Sciences against the other various schools?

it is easier to get into CAS

It is somewhat easier to get into CAS. Don't forget that Wharton also fills a significantly smaller class (with a higher yield) than does CAS. But in terms of academic standards, Wharton is only slighter more competitive.

Logically, they would expect some evident interest in business from the Wharton applicants.

The actual difference in stats is marginal, and as with any set of large groups, there are going to be plenty of people in Wharton that are dumber than SAS students and vice versa.

^ be quiet! they want science for wharton! lots and lots of science!

Wharton has the highest SAT scores, on average, at Penn. Highest HS GPA, on average, as well.

Really? You'd expect SEAS to score better

Seas:1480
Wharton: 1460
CAS: 1430

pwn3d.

Want to back those up?

I don't see how the average SAT could be 1434 with those numbers, even if they are heavily weighted towards CAS.

well i got 1580 and i'm in the college so there.

yeah because SAT scores measure anything.

they measure scholastic aptitude I believe. Even with a broad variance, I still beat the average Whartonite.

Does that help you sleep at night? :)

Post #10 in this thread is one of the most toolish I've read on this board. And that's saying something.

Anyone selling tickets for the fist fight between Johnny Kollege of Arts and Sciences and Think the Wharton Jose I? What are the odds...I think i wanna get in on the action?

no need to be jealous

Though post #15 might be competing...

Is there always such animosity between College and Wharton students? That really sucks :(

sheesh. calm down people.

wharton is statistically harder to get into by around 4-5% or so...no big difference.

apply to where you would prefer.

No animosity here, though Johnny seems to have a Wharton complex. Those are always nasty.

I'd say it's more a counter-wharton complex than a wharton complex. I seek only to neutralize the perception of superiority around wharton students as it is beneficial to nobody.
