Hello everyone! I LOVE The Arts (theatre, music, paintint/drawing, dance, poetry, literature, opera, etc). I am considering changing directions (from ESL teaching at the college level to Arts Management). I know that CMU, Columbia, Yale, and the Kennedy Center (DC) have programs in Arts Management. I was wondering if anyone here was familiar with these programs or knew of oth rprograms I am considering going down this path because The Arts has always beeen something that I've loved but never pursued (due to early disouragement..it was thought to be "stupid" when I first realized I loved it so much and instead of listening ot my instinct, I went with the other opinion and got into something else that I LIKED but didn't have the same passion for. I plan to do some volunteer work for an arts organization this summer but other than that and some high school experience (help with set design for school plays), I have little experience in the business. Anyway, any info you guys could provide would be greatly appreciated as well as usggestions for other universities to apply for MAs in Arts Management.....thanks!!!

Thought I should bump this in case someone could help…

I work in a museum now, and we don’t usually hire people with degrees in arts management. Better of specifying and getting an MA or PHD in a specific subject of the arts- or Arts Education would even be a better choice. However, I really don’t know about other businesses needs besides museums. I just know it is a very broad degree. Make sure you get involved with a non-profit for experience, most arts companies are. Good Luck!

NYU Steinhardt has a Visual Arts administration MA program.
