Hi everyone. I have a background in a non-arts and non-business related field but I plan to pursue a career serving the arts. I have done SOME volunteering for arts organization and I am an artist by hobby, while my favorite art forms are in performance (theater, music, dance) and I am just a spectator. I want to work in an administrative capacity for a non-profit arts organization in the future, particularly one that presents performing arts and does community outreach in some way. I am well aware of programs at CMU, NYU, Columbia-TC, and UW-Madison that focus on Arts Management/Admin. Yale has one that focuses on Theater Management and I am also looking into that one.

My question is, should I also consider programs in Public Admin and Non-Profit Admin just to have more choices? What are some good programs in these fields? I know the Arts-specific programs I mentioned above have excellent records, but I am worried because of my lack of formal arts or business training. Those programs are quite selective.

Any suggestions appreciated!
