i am gonna be a freshmen and i keep getting notices from the school to tell me to register for one of the summer weekends. unfortunately, i don't think i will be attending any but i am kinda worried about it because it seems as if attending one of these weekends will drastically improve my chances of getting into classes i want. is this true? did any of u current students not attend the artsci summer weekend? how did that work out in terms of registrating for classes? btw- i plan on majoring in bio (premed). can i just sign up for classes during orientation and get what i want? i figure because it's freshman year and bio is such a popular major, i will be in big classes anyway and the thinning out process will begin later. thanks in advance for any input

Personally I went to the summer weekend. Its a good bargain really cause you get a head start in alot of things like meeting people, getting to know the school layout, getting classes, meeting your advisor, etc. In terms of PreMed - all students who want to take take chemistry will get into one of the main classes. The thing most people have trouble with is choosing a good chemistry lab time. With most of the good lab times filled you might get stuck in one you dont like or if your lucky one you DO like. The one most people dont like is the saturday morning chem lab or the early morning labs on weekdays. Chem lab is four hours long (officially, but it depends on how fast and good you are). First semester you dont take bio so dont worry about that.
