I have to register during orientation. (so I understand, at least.)

Will all of the good professors be taken by then? Or does Cornell not make it utterly impossible to get into the classes you want?

I'm in Human Ecology as a Human Development major, by the way.

Thanks.

i’m actually wondering about that too, my friend in CALS told me orgo is compeltely full and i need to take that class

i think humec classes should be okay because we’re a small school and i don’t think our HD classes are too popular among kids in other colleges.

as for orgo, yup, totally full. i know people who got into lecture but didn’t get into labs.

When I transferred to Cornell as a CALS student, I was able to get into orgo lecture (Chem 3570) but I was on a waiting list for orgo lab (Chem 251). Everybody gets in to the regular orgo class :-D

Rest assured…just about every student on the waiting list for orgo lab will get in to a lab and the associated lecture. You’ll just need to be flexible with the department (I had to take a Tuesday 8:00 am lab). I know a handful of students who couldn’t get in to the class, but it’s just because they weren’t willing to take the lab at a certain time.

^that’s not the case anymore, unfortunately. there are legitimate waiting lines for the lecture portion of orgo, and people who don’t get into the orgo lab end up having to take it later. it’s something to do with budget cuts, so I think there are less sections (or something like that.)

Sigh…it’s sad to think that I’m getting to the point where the info I provide to students is outdated :(

Thanks for the clarification faustarp!
