I've kind of designed my entire primary and alternate bookbags around this class (the freshman only section of organic chemistry) because it's something I really really want to take. Only problem is that I have the last registration window. Do you think I'll be able to get into it or are there usually 80 other incoming freshmen with earlier registration windows dying to take it? I really have no idea how to predict the situation.

Also, while I'm asking, do you think this is something worthwhile for a potential chemistry major to take (by that I mean taking it first semester with only freshman, I know its required eventually)? I have the AP credit for it so that's not a problem. Anyone know what the class is like?

Should I take the semester of Chem before orgo to refresh my memory, etc? I'm a little scared haha.

As far as windows go, orgo is one of those large lecture classes that can always open up more spots. The difficulty is labs, but I've never heard of the freshman orgo section having problems in this regard.

You shouldn't have a problem getting in...like bluedevilmike said its a big class neways...but just think to yourself: how many other freshman do I know taking orgo?

I think most people take it later...so you should be able to get in and if you're even considering it you're probably qualified. You might as well try..you could do really well and get it out of the way early. Worst case-eh you drop it and wait til sophomore year

Like the other posters said, you won't have a problem getting into the lecture. There's a chance you might not get the exact lab that you want.

When I took freshman orgo (2 years ago) they allowed students to switch out of the class really easily to general chem up until they see their first test grades. There are several people who took advantage of that.

I think it was worth it to take orgo as a freshman. I got it out of the way early, and freshman orgo curves tend to be fairly generous.
