In my school we have A+, A, B+, B.. and so on. I know that the colleges end up recalculating GPA (well, some of them at least)... but if they look at my transcript and can see that I got an A instead of an A+... would that look bad (knowing that I didn't get FULL score in a course)? thx

oh my goodness...it really, really isn't that significant. I can promise you that getting an A as opposed to an A+ will not hurt you in college admissions. And if an adcom actually rejected you over that, then you probably wouldn't want to go to that school anyway :-P

i can't believe this is serious

i'm sorry... but wouldn't the difference between solid A+ and solid A be significant? (sorry... I am serious though..)

Oh my goodness! A solid A should get you shunned!

Oh. My. Gosh. If someone asks if you are serious, then I think you already know the answer.

lol...most colleges don't differentiate between the two. A or A+, doesn't matter.
you're worrying about NOTHING.

No, for the most part, +s and -s don't matter.

there is NO difference :P

Although... there is a difference between an A and an A- imo. So, +'s and -'s matter only in that respect.

A+ and A's... not a huge difference.

When we attended a Harvard,Penn,Duke and Georgetown roadshow, the reps from at least 3 of those schools said they treat an A as an A, whether it's a minus or plus. The 4th college may have agreed, but we (son and I) don't remember.

WOW. That's amazing I must say. I had always seen an A- as "bad."

A is an A is an A. My school doesn't even go by pluses and minuses.

I'd say the bad grades start at low C's to D's, not A-'s.

Your rank is what matters.

but my school doesn't rank..

So wait, if I received a B- in a class, it would be just like receiving a B in their eyes? (outside of rank)

yeah, if they recalculated GPA.. yeah.

l0l... A- isn't bad either.

At MIT, they don't even release grade modifiers externally. +/- are internal only.

the OP has like a perfectionist attitude like me! yeah, I agree too that it doesn't make a lot of difference, but definitely it just looks good if u can get like 98s and 100s! now, looking good doesn't at all means that it will give u an edge to the college u r applying to! :)

But I was just wondering, doesn't getting 98s and 99s boost ur GPA (by a fraction obviously!) well, I suppose that's a minimal increase and not-so-important too! ?

When a school doesn't rank, and any don't, the college figures out you aprox rank. Rank matters for everyone.

My school didn't weigh A+,A,A- any differently with respect to GPA.
