You guys would rock my world if you could chance me. Thank you all in advance.

LOL, in at all UCs. In at least one of the ivies. In at USC.
Geez...

hahaha the youtube thing sounds like kevjumba. but he's already at ucdavis

UCLA
UC Berkeley
UCSB
UCSD
Northwestern

you'll get into these schools for sure. idk about ivy leagues they're very volatile

well, you're looking for a sense of assurance on this forum by asking for chances and with your profile (esp. your ECs) you're probably going to get into at least a few of your choices. but just out of curiosity, you do realize your schools are rather varied in terms of environment and curriculum right? from columbia to darthmouth to harvard to duke, they're all very different environments and this list seems motivated by some perceived notion of prestige. anyway if it matters, you're probably in for the UCs, USC, Northwestern and Dartmouth imo. the rest i'm not qualified to say (and neither is almost anyone at CC). personally, i think you will be rejected at 3/4 of HYPS and for the last one (of course i can't say which) you stand maybe a 30-40% chance at getting in.

wow...
your ECs are incredibly unique! which is a a definite plus for college
and your grades are awesome too so...
i would say you got all the UCs and some of the ivies if you're packaged and presented well enough...
good luck!

Thanks for the chance.
I see you're an Eagle Scout too, nice!

Are you an ELC Student? Being one substantially increases your chances at getting in to the UC's (the ones you arent already guaranteed a spot at).

UCLA
UC Berkeley
UCSB
UCSD
USC
Northwestern

In at all these.

The others, its hard to tell. But, I would say you will get into one of them

i'm from the midwest so i don't know much about the uc's
but i think nwestern is a match
dartmouth and upenn are high matches/slight reaches
columbia and duke are reaches
and hyps are always crapshoots :</p>

Duke, Stanford, and The Ivys from what I've heard look a lot at the uniqueness of an applicant. Your GPA and SATs are within an acceptable range so they will be looking at your ECs, recs, and essays. Your ECs are so unique and varied that they will definatly catch their eye. I'm sure you will be strongly considered by all of those school. It's impossible to say which if any of them will accept you though since they tend to be unpredictable.

Yes, the colleges I'm applying to are very, very varied in their environment, etc.

I haven't had the time to visit/research the Ivy League schools, so I'm applying to most of them. IF I get in, then I'll go visit them and see which one suits me better =)

I just thought to myself over the summer, if I don't get in, then why visit?

You have a 1570 CR/M? Nice!!

The Rubik's Cube thing is super cool... so is the youtube deal. Wow! I'd say you have an excellent chance at all of your schools, and especially Dartmouth out of all the ivies. UC's should be practically your safeties :P

Good academics + unique ECs. In at some top schools. You got a link to your youtube page? =]

My username =)
Haha, I'm not trying to promote myself or something!

aww hey you go to Arcadia HS. I've been there twice for the marching tournament. Did you end up going to YouTube live btw lol?

Not all of us have the leisure of -checking out- each school. Some of us apply to a lot and narrow a choice down by possibly visiting then.

ddddddddddddddddddork

@FellowCCViewer: living literally half a world away (12 time zones, i'm an international) i can safely say that i haven't been afforded the leisure of checking out campuses either. but some of the schools are so disparately different (as some really basic research will reveal) that it seems odd that one would want to consider them on the same list. say dartmouth, which is practically a self-sufficient entity in the middle of semi-nowhere and columbia, which is in NYC.

as someone who's considered both dartmouth and columbia, i must say the only reason one should consider schools that are starkly different is when there is something more important in both schools that would permit you to be happy regardless of the location, etc. in my case, it's the presence of strong writing departments. even then, i've realized that dartmouth doesn't really sound like my thing (i'd probably like urban environments like boston or chicago or nyc more) so i've taken it off my list.

i don't want to sound like i'm criticizing the OP for his choice, because everyone is entitled to their own criteria for picking colleges but it's my advice as a well wisher that you should apply only to colleges that you believe you can be happy at and the way i see it, i don't see how your preferences can accommodate schools with such differences in 'personalities'. it may just be my myopic point of view, but that's why it's called opinion right?

@OP: btw, are you sunil?

in a northwestern and all the UC's idk about the ivies its basically a crapshoot with those schools

@srrinath: I dormed at Dartmouth for three weeks over the summer, so I know it fairly well. I've also researched Columbia. Those are two schools I'm very familiar with, and in line with my disparate activities, I have disparate tastes. I can survive in the rural setting of Hanover, as well as the urban environment of NYC. Thank you for your advice/concern, though.

And no, Sunil graduated last year.

I would say in at all UC's, USC, Northwestern, and most likely Duke.

And I predict in at at least one of the Ivies/Stanford.

Great app, you have some pretty unique EC's that definitely stand out. Best of luck in April!

Thanks so much!
