Lol, EVERY school says that!

every school says they are the safest CITY? no way.

A school will say they are safe, but, for UCI, it is actually located in truly safe city. It is ranked in the top 10 safest cities in the nation I think. I need to get that verified. I'll post when I find it. At first, it was hard for me to believe, but they wouldn't lie to all their visitors about this would they?

coming from san jose (or anywhere else in northern california for that matter), the only thing you have to fear about irvine is probably the weather and the gas prices. you'd probably enjoy the weather, but i can never say the same for the latter.

coming from South Cental, i'll say i'm the one bringin down the law. lol j/k.

Hahah jas0n, my parents were a little worried too. Not so much about 'asian gangsters'...But because this is the first time I'll be living on my own away from home (I'm a transfer student too). When we toured the CV apartments, my parents asked the guide how safe it was. Fortunately the guy was extremely good with his words, also describing about the emergency blue light system and free chaperoning services. My parents don't expect me to use all of that but I believe they were pretty impressed with the security as a whole.

I wouldn't worry too much about 'asian gangsters' at UCI for the most part. I mean, c'mon, they're smart enough to get an education at UCI so it's not like they're incredibly terrible or anything.

personally I'd worry a lot more about the lack of a football team than the gangsta's.

There won't ever be a football team at UCI. Deal with it.

I did, I'm not going there ;)

i hate football

yea irvine is pretty safe. The worst thing that could happen to you is probably got your book stolen

Agreed. During my visit to Irvine, I got the sense that it was a safe place. The people appeared to mainly from the middle to high class.

It's a shame that UCI won't have a football team. A D1 team would really help the school climb the ranks.

nothing to do with "Asian gangsters", but in regards to the comment above ^

me and a couple of irvine buddies got together and played football agianst a couple of buddies going to UCSD. i was pretty much anticipating that UCSD was gonna kick our butt, but team UCI triumphed. we should start a UCSD-UCI rivialry or soemthing, like Cal-Stanford, UCLA-USC.... blah blah u know? ;)

That would be interesting O_O...although I want to go to UCSD for my graduate studies.

Irvine is probably the safest (and therefore most boring) city in the US. i lived there for 9 years and hadnt heard of any major crimes.

Um... UCI's just Asian.. and Irvine's not ghetto enough to be gangster I don't think. Hahaha

ucsd > uc irvine

You know what? Die. Just die. Plox.

It's a shame that UCI won't have a football team. A D1 team would really help the school climb the ranks.

UCSD hasn't had a football team (period) for a while and it's doing quite nicely in ranks; though I wish they had one anyway--I really do love football.

Asian gangsters / Wangsters / Jiggers / Ghetto yellows / etc are growing in numbers, Lily. Please don't underestimate the fury.

"UCSD hasn't had a football team (period) for a while and it's doing quite nicely in ranks; though I wish they had one anyway--I really do love football."

Ranks= yes doing well
nerd factor= yes exploding
lack of cool atmosphere/fun= yes definately has that reputation
lack of good sports events to attend= no question
