on a different note.. i totally love the home cooking of asian moms. man, if you have asian friends who invite you a lot over to their homes for lunch, dinner, parties, etc. you know what I mean. Lots of food, great tasting food.... mmmmmm. :)

I know chubeebo!

my korean friend and I always talk about the amazing cooking.

He has a chinese restaurant and his food totally rules!

my dad's a great cook too, regardless of his high asian demands.

didn't mean to confine it to one gender, haiku. yes, there are asian dads i know who are wizards in the kitchen. can't say enough good things about the nice hospitality in their households too. dang, now i'm hungry.....

me too.
I do miss my friend's restaurant
it was totally amazing

rejected from Yale
"Ur out of the family. Time to obsess over little brother"

likely from Dartmouth
"Welcome back to the family..."

You should be thankful for the little brother.
Imagine being an only child with the entire future of the family resting on you alone!

^So true. It's kinda nice that my parents are sorta leaving me alone now and annoying my bro. He's a total slacker lol! Only problem is now they keep telling what I shoulda done! I go, "well, didn't tell me that earlier so it's ur on fault!"

Yeah I have an asian mom. Since I lead the most dull life imaginable, I've been lectured on the most interesting subjects.

Why do you always sit in the back seat of the car when I pick you up? Is it because you don't want to talk to me?

Why don't you ever bring your cell phone to school? I can't call you! So what if I don't usually have mine with me myself!

Why don't you have friends?? Also, stop wasting time.

Lol. I'm asian, and my parents are way cool with school and everything...haha

It's so funny how we stereotype and downtalk these "asian" moms. Does it have to be "asian" moms, I would think this would be describing any curious and caring parents.
...... Let's just make it parents in general.

I think most parents are probably (hopefully) classified as curious and caring. I'm not sure this would describe the masses, though.

I see it as IMMIGRANT Asian moms and/or dads

my dad always reminded me how "We bring u to this coutnry fo better opportunity"

so yeah.

I have an immigrant mom, and she is far less controlling than many non-immigrant and/or non-Asian moms I know. How about instead of NARROWING the stereotype, we don't stereotype at all?

Just make this a thread about overbearing parents.

Stereotype = majority rules.

Instead of saying how we should broaden this thread and how "omg but not all Asian moms are like *** lul!", you should not be in such denial in how the majority of Asian mom/parents are. Sure, there are other races who have overbearing parents, but the intensity as far as numbers go is just not as strong. Get over it! This thread was meant in jest anyway.

My best friend's, she's an asian, parents are really strict. She has rules like no TV during weekdays, no bfs until college, pay for your own college, but get straight A's and everything..
