Any idea which way certain room numbers face in this building, i.e., odd v. even rooms?

I think for all of West Campus, odd rooms face Nickerson. I didn’t live there though, so I can’t say for sure if there are exceptions.

Should I swap my South Campus 29 Buswell Street for Warren? I had no idea I’ll get a specialty housing (Environmental ) since I thought freshmen are most likely placed in Warren…

So you guys don’t recommend core? I had the 1st session of orientation so I already signed up for the half of it (since I’m a science major). I have 5 on APUSH credit (and maybe on eng lit and comp) so you think it’ll be better to just try to switch to a writing seminar on my student link?

CC101 and CC102 count for WR100 and then CC201 and CC202 count for WR150 so you’d need to take all four to count for a writing requirement. Or you can take Core Social instead of CC201 and CC202. If you’re not taking all of core it probably won’t be worth it. Oh and AP English credits don’t get you out of writing.

i had a lot of friends who loved Core. I personally regret not doing it. It seems like the quintessential college experience. i’d check it out for a few weeks and see if you like it.

Oh don’t get me wrong. I loved Core. I finished the entire thing. It’s awesome, but it’s not for everyone. And I think it’s harder when you drop it halfway or don’t do the entire thing since then you end up with a few missing requirements. For instance, if you take Core you don’t have to take math or computer science but if you drop it you’ll have to find a way to fill those credits.

Does anyone know how a room ending in 23 in the A building faces? I can’t find the information anywhere.

When I was at orientation they explained this sort of core for science majors where we, I think, fulfill our writing/social studies/humanities requirements by skipping on 4 courses and taking only CC101/102 and CC203/204. I have to take calc anyway so my math requirement is taken care of.
Oh okay, I misinterpreted that you didn’t like core, but I love the idea of a quintessential liberal arts education! Thanks for clearing that up (:

I have another question, I posted a thread but no bites so do you guys know anything about the biochem program?

you wouldn’t skip 4 classes, you would skip 2: the two writing seminars. so basically you take 4 classes (the CCs) instead of 6

Can any student relate how rigorous the engineering programs are at bu? Also, do many engineering students chose to pursue another on top of their engineering major?

So, I’m signing up for classes and I’m wondering…
I’m in COM and its required we take WR100. I have 4’s in AP Comp lit and language, so I was wondering if anyone knows if I can use my AP scores to place out of WR100. It interferes with some other classes I REALLY want to take, so I hope I don’t have to take another writing class instead :P

as has been discussed on here before, you can’t place out of wr100…there are also like 500 sections of wr100 so it really shouldn’t be interfering with any classes if you don’t want it too

Samsung,
As a CAS kid, the engineering programs seem pretty intense to me! It’s obviously science and math based, which in my opinion are the toughest types of classes at BU. I guess it really depends for each person. My friends in the engineering school always did have lots of work though. I’d say that you’d have to be very organized and a natural in both fields to have another major in a different school. I’m certain that people do it but it’s probably a more rare combination.

is a sprint from SMG to fitrec in ten minutes or less a reasonable expectation? i’m debating adding a PDP but that seems like a bit of a stretch to accomplish on a consistent basis :/

ohhh smg to fitrec is a little bit over a mile… i wouldn’t recommend the pdp class just in case one of your smg classes takes longer than it says it will. the same goes for pdp to any of your other classes unless its cgs or sha

I agree with Alec. sometimes a class can go over 3-5 minutes. It’s not much of an issue when the class is nearby, but it is when it’s far. Most professors will understand if you’re late if you have a class that’s far, but still, you’ll end up missing the beginning if you’re going to travel all the way to FitRec. I never hit the gym since I live in Hojo. Just getting to FitRec is a workout.

if i buy books now (as opposed to right before i leave, since i hate leaving things til the last minute) & have them shipped to the address BU gave me, will they definitely be there waiting when i move in? i want to get all this over with, but i also don’t want them to get lost since i won’t be there for more than a month…

No. They don’t take mail over the summer. This is what they said:

What does it mean when the Registration page says my instructor is “Staff”? Is that a TA or does it mean the teacher will vary by the day?
