newyork2010,
There is a way to create your own major in the UNI college, but I’m not sure about specifics… look for it on the BU site.

However, I would think that you’d probably be able to eventually BUCOP (which is double majoring in two colleges) between College of Communication and School of Management. I’m not sure how easy that would be as for fufilling requirements… you might have to take some summer classes or overload to make it work. If you have AP credits to get out of a lot of requirements, it’ll probably be easier. You could talk to a BUCOP advisor about that after inter-transferring to either COM or SMG, but you can’t pick a second school until sophomore year anyways. If you are going to do it though, it’s good to plan ahead.

If you’re certain about the business/music communication path, I think your best bet would be to switch out of CAS as soon as you can once you’re admitted. It’s easier to do so during orientation or before orientation than to wait, especially if you plan on BUCOPing and need extra time. However, all schools require a CAS foundation so you could sit tight and take some potential requirement classes there first if you aren’t sure.

Do you have any idea what the past criteria has been for students who have received the School of Education Presidential Scholarships? I read on this forum that BU superscores the ACTs for admission – do you know if they also superscore for aid and scholarships?

I spoke to my teacher today, she reasked me about the deadline and said she was going to complete it today. If my rec does not get in by Jan. 4th, does this ruin my chances to be considered for admission at BU?

NiklasK - for your questions on engineering. I think it is a tad bit harder to get into, but that is debatable. IMHO, if you get into the school, ANY program is available to you. Transferring is very easy.

And no there is no difference between applying as a EE or BME. The acceptance is to the college, especially since all majors have almost the exact same core curriculum (for engineering i.e. same maths, prereqs for engineering up until sophomore year). I am sure you will get in.

Hey thanks for the help
I already sent my app but the portal says somethings are missing,
financial document and transcript.
is the trascript the same as the counselors rec?

the transcript would be the final report/end year report(completed by counselor). the financial documents are just your CSS profile and the FAFSA.

newyork2010, I don’t know of anyone specifically working on music & business, but I feel like I’ve heard of it being done secondhand before. However, I know a LOT of people double-majoring in the same school and a fair amount BUCOPing between schools. It takes extra work and juggling requirements well, but it’s definitely do-able in most cases. Even CFA kids BUCOP in CAS programs which have a whole different requirement set.

laurenrp,
If you want a picture-esque typical college campus, you will be disappointed by BU. However, I thought I wanted that when I originally looked into colleges. Still, I ended up here and realized how perfect it is to have a school right in the midst of a city. Unlike some urban schools, we still have a campus. Yes, it’s composed mostly of road but it’s all clustered together (although in mostly a line). You will find places where there is grass, randomly along the campus, and a little bit more along BU Beach and Bay State Rd. During the school day, the part of Comm Ave where BU is located is completely full of BU students commuting from class. You see people you know walking around, even though you might think you wouldn’t with such a large campus. I see it as a benefit more than anything, allowing you to also have the city right there too. I love being able to see the Pru when I walk from West, and walk to Fenway in 10 minutes. It’s the perfect mix for me and a lot of freshmen. Like I said, if you are dead set on a grassy green campus, you’ll be disappointed. But if you aren’t sure, give it a chance. It’s actually not bad at all in my opinion.

first off: nice name! haha.
thanks for that imput. I applied to one actually grassy green school- the rest are city schools. I was asking this because I was thinking about northeastern’s central campus area and how it’s a campus in a city. BU has the campus thing around west and the bu beach. originally I wanted to go to nyu, but it has NO campus or even community and that ended up turning me off. it’s really nice to hear that even on the walk to class at bu in such a big school I can still run into people I know.

so im really interested in BU… but i think my stats are average at most which has me worried about getting grants and stuff…

i have a 3.4 gpa
1900 SAT
28 ACT
i do various activities, very likeable and do a lot of volunteer hours…

based on that how much do you think i could get? if i get in of course :)

i would probably need money to make my college about 13,000-14,000 a year just because my sister goes to college for 10k and she will never let me live it down if i cost much more than she does haha…

my parents make probably about 80k a year… so it isnt like im a millionarie :)

based on the stuff you were talking abotu before, it would be cool to get the half tution which would take me to 26,000 then a combination of a 10,000 and 5000 grant would take me right to where i need it…
