soon to be ucsb freshman pre biology major. im trying to figure out my schedule for the fall quarter. can anyone tell me what they took with a full schedule?

mine too =]

Did you go to orientation? You should have been guided on what classes to take there.

Jazz, (if you go to orientation) they will place you in Chem A1, Chem A1L (lab), and a math. Then you take a class of your own choice. If you do not go into orientation sign up for Chem A1, Chem A1L, and the math you are suppose to be in (I’m in Math 3B because I took the Calc. AP and got a 3, I am not sure for other people)

I didn’t go to orientation. I expect to be filled in on the information for my classes later at the make up orientation and to do some research myself, but I don’t think asking here would hurt. What kind of classes should a Pre-Comp. Sci major take? What about the math placement test I hear about? I assume I should take that?

WCF,
This page will definitely help you choose the course for your major.

Is it easy to smoke weed in the dorms? Specifically Manzanita?

can u back out of an accepted loan. i accepted a loan but did not sign the MPN or do the interview.

i want that loan part dissappeared on my fin award letter

Hey

  1. IF I apply into an art major do they ask for a portfolio?
  2. If i am an out of state student how does that make my chances?
  3. All my EC are surrounded around art and other such things is that bad?
  4. If you apply early how much does that increase your chances?
  5. Is the summer pre-college program good? and does that increase your chances significantly of getting in?

laylalayla16,

I’m not sure about questions #1-3, but I can answer #4 and #5. Applying early doesn’t increase your chances at all and neither does getting into any “pre-college” programs, including FSSP(Freshman Summer Start Program). However, programs like FSSP are very beneficial. The social and academic head start is very significant; I wish I had done it myself.

hi! (: i have a few questions…

  1. hows the art history (emphasis on architecture & environment) there?
  2. is it an impacted major? o_o’’
  3. how does ucsb admit its students-- by a point system or like by what major they pick?? Sorry, I’m a little confused on that…
    thanksss!!! (:

SunnybaNANA: I am not so sure about art history. There aren’t really “impacted” majors here because UCSB does not make decisions based on major. They look at you as a whole (EC, SAT, UC GPA, ect.) and decide from there. Also, UCSB does not use a point system unlike UCSD

is there a good gym at UCSB?

We have a huge remodeled gym about 8ish minute bike ride from the dorms. I haven’t been inside but it looks beautiful and a huge field in front.

I’m not an athlete, but I’ve heard from athletes that it’s really nice. I’ve been in there and I was really impressed (but then again…like I said I’m no athlete). The only downside would be that it does tend to get crowded despite its large size.

There’s like 3 gyms at UCSB. The main one is REALLY nice.

Could anyone in the honors college give me their HS stats? I want to know if I have a chance at it.

SAT1: 2140
GPA: 4.4/3.8
SAT II: Math 710, Physics 690, Chemistry 700, Writing 660, Biology (cell): 790

AP Tests
Chemistry: 3
AP Physics: 4
AP Language: 5
AP Bio: 5
AP Environmental: 5
AP US History: 4
AP Calc AB: 5
AP Econ macro/micro: 5/5

EC’s
-Varsity xc runner, tennis player. Made state individually in both.
-Created with my friend a national science competition for middle school and elementary school students that raises money for scholarships for kids in India.

Awards:
-Won regional science fair in my category.
-2nd place in World Quest competition in State
-AP National scholar.

Chance me for honors.

Any info on out-of-state applicants or admits that you know of- is it that much harder to get in? How do they fit in once they’re there? My D is 5th generation Californian on my side but has mostly grown up back East…

Hi, everybody, do you know where I can find outside campus housing that is near the Bio II building?

in answer to “I Say Hella’s” question, if you want to smoke weed live in FT. You will have your own bathrooms (which have excellent ventilation) and you’ll never have to leave the building to even buy your weed (which can avoid altercations with the cops). I know people that smoke in Manzanita so yes it can be done… but there’s a much higher UCPD presence on campus than at FT (which is off campus)
