Ask an Exonian!

Hello!
I am an upper, or junior, at Phillips Exeter Academy as of last year, when I was accepted as a new repeat lower, or sophomore. I am willing to answer any questions you may have to the best of my ability!
Ask away.

Hi!
What kind of questions did the interviewer ask you?
Do you think you did well with the interview?
Thanks

The questions were along the lines of what kind of things do I like to do in my spare time, how would people I know describe me, various questions about my academics, favorite book. Nothing out of the usual, to be completely honest.
I did apply more than once, and I’ve had two different interviewers. That being said, you can definitely gauge interest that the person holds towards you. That is pretty vital because objectively speaking, different interviewers look for different things. Two times I had the same person, and a different one the third. I think that at least in my case, the interview played a large part, particularly between the second and third times.
If you specialise in something that you can bring small samples of, do so, and if it is brought up (as it should be if it is your specialty), offer to show those samples.
The best advice I can give is that you are trying to sell yourself during the interview, so be confident and don’t worry!

Why did you want to apply as a repeat sophomore? Do you still agree with the decision you made? Was it hard socially and academically to adjust to the community?
