thanks for your help. good luck with finals.

Yeah good luck on your finals. And do you have any opinions on which meal plan to get?

Freshmen are required to choose one of the Carte Blanche meal plans. They give you unlimited access to the dining hall any time it is open (except for C, which only lets you enter the dining hall after 11 am). All of the meal plans differ in the amount of “points” (aka dollars) you get to spend, in addition to getting to enter the dining hall as many times as you want. Carte Blanche Plus has $600, A has $400, B has $250 and C is I think $150. For the fall semester I had Meal Plan A. What happens is that any points you have left over at the end of the fall semester will roll over into the spring semester. I had almost $200 left by December so I downgraded to Plan B for this semester. The points DO NOT roll over into the next academic year though, so you want to use them all up before the summer.

The one you choose really depends on your personal preferences and how much you want to spend because the more points obviously means a higher cost. If you think you are going to be the kind of person who eats out consistently at say TDubs or the Rat or you are going to stock up on snacks from the C store, more points might be a good idea. I would recommend getting either the Plus plan or plan A for fall semester. personally, I think it’s better to overestimate the amount of points you’ll use rather than run out by October. If you find that you had too many points you can always downgrade for the spring.

Also, and this may sound a little dumb, do I need a graphing calculator for college?

Hi HazelEyes, I noticed you mentioned you’re a music minor. I’m considering minoring in music… how do you like the program?

cometstarg- it really depends on what you are majoring in. if you are majoring in a science i would suggest having a graphing calculator. bio majors don’t necessarily use them quite as much as say chemistry, physics, and engineering majors but they are still useful to have (especially for the physics and math classes).

erw0807- so far I like the program very much. I will be taking my first academic course of the minor next semester, but so far I have performed with two choirs through the music department. the minor doesn’t seem like it will be difficult to complete and the staff and students seem to be very supportive. if you have any specific questions feel free to ask!

whats the difference between an intramural and a club sport?

hazel eyez, thanks for taking the time. how is the honors program? are the required classes interesting, and what is your opinion on the easy to difficult level of them? i took honors and lots of ap classes in high school with little difficulty, except for ap physics II electrical. also with limited sports, do you feel there is enough to do on the weekends?

Intramural sports = Played among students within a college
Club team sports = Not sanctioned by the NCAA, but team plays other colleges
In terms of time commitment, it’s varsity>club>intramural

you guys know anything about the manhunt club? their website looks outdated

jayalert- so far I like the program very much. so far I have only taken honors chem and an honors fsp, and they were not too too difficult. if you took AP chem in high school you would be fine in the honors chem course. the only downsides to being in the program that i’ve seen are 1. some people expect more incentives (i.e. priority housing, etc.) and 2. non science majors sometimes feel they do not offer ennough variety of honors courses for them to take. Otherwise I really can’t complain.

cometstarg- I haven’t looked into the club but one day last semester I was walking back to the dorms and i saw people running around playing manhunt. i guess it could have been them lol

thanks, do honor students live at cromwell, isn’t that priority housing or not? what do you mean by priority housing?

Yes, most honors students live in cromwell (there are a few exceptions) but no it isn’t priority housing. priority housing would mean you get “priorirty” in the lottery. in other words you would be most likely to get housing (you’re only guaranteed for the first two years).

thanks for the clarification.

How does laundry work at tcnj? As in, is it free? Do I need a bunch of quarters, or does it use my card or something?

TW towers, laundry room every other floor with 2-3 washers and 2-3 dryers
Cromwell, laundry room every floor

No quarters, no swipes

so you’re saying laundry is free? sweet.

Hey, all. I’m an incoming freshman and I received a folder this weekend, saying I can enroll early to my classes. I followed each step, but then I got to the step that says to click on the select class button to add the class to the shopping cart.

Either I’m missing something and just stupidly can’t find it, or the button isn’t there. Paws also does not have the list of academic requirements that the booklet I received says I should have. Is it just taking a long time to update?

Where can I find the ISBN’s for the texts I’ll need next year? The bookstore doesn’t show them on the website and I want to be sure I get the right ones elsewhere to save money

You tried searching for the textbooks on the website? If they don’t show the ISBN I don’t know where else you could find them
