@Jaycers
Thank you!!^_^

For those of you who are worrying about AP scores, if u didn’t have a chance to send it in (which goes for everyone from the first session due to the early time), you can always make a phone call to collegeboard and have an academic advisor listen to ur score over the phone as proof. As for those who are going to a later time, your scores should be received by UCR by now (if u fill out the send score part on ur AP test) because UCR received all of my AP scores (this year and last year’s) today

Do you register for classes only for the fall, or for the whole year?

Just for fall quarter. After orientation you will have access to GROWL’s class registration area and it will be done quarterly on your own

Thanks for answering all these questions, Jaycers! I have one more: do I need to have a copy of my transcript when I meet with my advisor?

P.S. How was the food? :)

@iloveparis: well for me, i did not use any transcripts, and during that time, they didn’t even receive my highschool transcript. But if u do have a college transcript that will give u credits in classes that u are plan to enroll in, then bring those.
as for food, day 1 lunch was: chicken tender with fries, pizza, fruit cups, and soda (cups)
day 1 dinner: taco, sushi, pasta, sandwich (veggie, ham, or turkey), and soda (cans)
day 2 breakfast: scrambled eggs, waffle, sausage, hash brown, fruit cups, and soda (cups)
day 2 lunch: some sort of chicken (i think it was mexican style), cheese tortia, fruit cups, and soda (cups)
There are desserts but i didn’t get them

@paris, pretty much what haha said about the high school transcripts, they trust you with that much and you just need to have submitted it before the deadline which i think is July 15. I didn’t have a transcript with me or mine in yet (it still isn’t in their system) and there was no problem whatsoever. I personally liked the food a lot, it’s all you can eat and they have a little of everything. The HUB food wasn’t as good as when we ate at Lothian though, although at the HUB they had Sushi, pizza, tacos, sandwiches and other stuff while at Lothian they had less variety the quality of the food was much better and they have soo many different drinks and deserts as well as a pretty nice salad bar. I was quite impressed with it actually but I also had 2 more days at the SUHP at Lothian so I might be a little partial to it.

Thank you both for your replies!!
I’ll be there on the 15th & 16th and looking forward to it!

any mech engineers going on 15-16 =)

Personally, I didn’t really like Bear Facts that much.

^ Same. I wanted to just register for class and bounce. I felt like everything else was so unnecessary haha.

Maybe it was because I went to the SUHP which was 2 days before you guys, but i really enjoyed meeting all the new people. Yes it was probably unnecessary but it actually got my excited for living in a dorm plus all of the people/girls haha. There was a lot and i’m truthfully excited for Fall now did you guys not like the dance?

i think it is different from person to person. I did not attend SUHP, but i still enjoyed the time i spend at the orientation. I liked it cuz of the completely different experience from my school life since elementary school and cuz of the different kinds of people i saw through out the day. But i did felt from time to time that a lot of things are necessary but it was still fun overall

Has anyone here other than Jaycers had their orientation yet? What time did your guy’s orientation start? He said 10:30, but my friend said he was told 9, so I’m worried that there are different start times…

i did, or else i wouldn’t be answering some of the questions now, would i?
well anyways, i actually got there at 8:30am thinking that the line will be too long if i were to get there by 9. And i found out i was actually right, cuz by the time i got there, the lines for the middle alphabets (i think it started somewhere around L to T) were really long while the line for U-Z (the one i was in) only lasted a few minutes when i was in line, but quickly became a long line afterwards. So your best bet is to either go there early or a bit later (make sure u r not late for the orientation events) so that u won’t have to wait in line for too long

mine said to arrive 9-11 but we actually started doing stuff at around 1030-11. i’m not sure when i got there because i went straight from SUHP to BEAR facts

hey jaycers, who is ur OL and did u ever get the spirit stick?

I was in Allie’s group, and no haha we never got it. We had a very distinctive cheer though who was yours?

@rikkomontanez

I still have my schedule from Bear Facts and it says that check-in is from 9-10AM. After that is the student session (10-11AM) where you get to know each other. I know that in my group, half the kids didn’t show up until the student session.

@Jaycers

I went to SUHP too, and I felt that it was waaaaaay better than Bear Facts, but it may just be because of my Orientation Group. I really don’t like how they grouped us by major, because the computer science majors I was with didn’t talk about anything other computers, which was really dull. Made me wish I had stuck to being a chem-E major. Also, I thought the dance sucked, but I’m not really a dance person. Just my two cents.

I was in Angela’s group. Our group cheer was the one with the weird dance, but it was pretty fun and unique :P
