Ask me questions about Boarding School!!

Oh and are there dances? Like real ones not just the more chaperones than kids kind.

My hunch is that you go to NMH. This not question #50. This is merely a guess.

haha… i’ve once posted a question on this thread, but im asking another :stuck_out_tongue:
what do you think is a key part of getting into a top boarding school?

There’s no magic. Great grades, excellent test scores, no negatives on teacher recommendations, and some distinguishing interest–it can be sports, arts, music, service, whatever you are into. And IMO, apply to 4-6 top schools because even with all the above, nothing is guaranteed when admission acceptance rates are in the teens.

not from Hotchkiss… i can gather from that much

So im not going to answer much right now. But i will be back later.
Grinzing your right to an extent. You can have good grades and still not get in. those people that didnt get in dont have that hook, that over the edge popping out thing that other people have. It can be that your athletic, you are an actor/actress, your are non white and non asian. And especially(this will almost always get you in) your rich. They want that because frankly, that school has bills and things they want done. And once you go to that school they will expect you to be a big donor.

I’ll be back later. I have to go to Volleyball Practice=)

How high do You think my chances are of getting into on of the HADES schools?

I am a white-Jewish male in 8th grade
Recommendations will be excellent
Interview went excellent
Have not taken the SSAT yet
Accelerated Math
Afterschool SAT math
Played Basketball for three years
Played guitar for three years
Speak two languages(Other than spanish)

7th grade-
Math-99
E.L.A 98
Science 98
Social Studies-99
Spanish-95
P.E-90(Normal Grade)
I would take higher-level classes but my school doesnt offer them
Honor roll for 2 years

8th grade-
Math-98
E.L.A-99
Science-98
Social Studies 99
Spanish-98
P.E-90

What do You think my chances are of getting into one of the HADES schools. Is the SSAT hard? What SSAT score do i need to get in? Is the Barron’s SSAT and ISEE similar to the actual test? Is 95 out of 100 questions good enough?

Thanks!

Ingore the second one lol

Do you mail email or call your parents?
I call my mommy every night before I go to sleep=). But i mean that’s not everyone. Some people don’t even call their parents and others just call when they need money. But i try to keep in contact with my parents when ever can. Just so i can keep up with what’s happening at home. Some people say it makes them more homesick, but it just makes me feel better that I’m just a phone call away from home=)

Do your parents come to games?
I go to boarding school. My parents live 3000 miles away. But, some people’s parents come to games, but that is mainly because they live just a little ways away from the school.

Oh and are there dances? Like real ones not just the more chaperones than kids kind.

Yea of course! I mean they are not the best, but they are good enough. Its pretty fun, sometimes we decide to have our own “dances” lol. Just play music and chill.

I’m sorry guy I dont like chancing people. I think its a waste of time in the since that I’m not a admissions officer, and plus, If you think your already going to get in what’s the point. Try to impress them not me. =)

We don’t have Harkness tables at NMH – or at least we don’t call them that, so she’s not an NMHer.
