I want to ask my honors accounting teacher for a letter of recommendation, but I’m not sure if it is frowned upon for not being enough of a “core subject”. This is one of my favorite teachers that I had last year (and throughout high school), and I did exceptionally well in his class (98 first semester; 97 second semester). In fact, he sent a letter home to my parents a few weeks ago saying how well I did in his class. I also plan on asking my AP Enlgish teacher for a letter of rec also. Would it be fine to get a letter of recommendation from him?
It is fine, especially when paired with the AP English teacher’s recommendation… And if you are applying to business programs it could be a positive. IMO accounting is an academic class – non academic classes are more things like gym, orchestra etc.
