asking for letter of recommendation if youre a teacher's aide?

I am a teacher's aide for one class; is it okay to ask that teacher to write me a letter of recommendation or do colleges not like the teachers from non-core classes to write you a letter of recommendation? i am actually quite fond with this teacher though because she was my teacher for math freshman year but now i am a senior and teacher aiding for her.

bump…

You gotta recall the purpose of a rec letter. It’s not to say you’re a nice person who works hard and has “character”. It’s to highlight your influence of your peers, any outstanding academic performance/potential, your leadership, and particular personal strengths.

While this teacher might be able to add some of the last points, she can’t reasonably comment on the others. Likely other teachers in your life can do better – thus, it’s in your best interest to ask another teacher.

It might be OK to ask this teacher for a third, supplemental rec letter if you’re not otherwise turning in a third.
