How do you go about doing it?
I have 25 essays (and short answers) to write, give or take, and I’m not sure how many essays I should ask my English teachers to read and critique. I have 3 English teachers to ask, but I’m still unsure if I should give them all 25 essays to read, or if I should just give them the important essays (ex. 2 Common App essays), a few supplemental essays, and one “Why [College]?” essay, or what.
Thank you!
Honestly, don’t give your teachers 25 essays to read. I doubt they have time for that haha. Pick out THE most important one or two essays and politely ask your English teachers if they have time to spare and are willing to give you their opinions on your essays. I’d pick the Common App personal statement seeing as it’s probably the most important essay (other than your supplements).
I agree with retrorocket. Pick the one or two most important and critical essays and work with your selected teachers on reviewing them. Be sure to give them adequate time as most teachers have busy schedules and may not be able to review an essay on an immediate basis. More than 2 or 3 essays, in my opinion, is asking too much. Remember, you may not be the only student asking your teacher for essay review assistance. Be sure to remember the teachers that really help you by giving them a small gift of appreciation at the end of the school year. (If not prohibited by school policy or rules.)
