Aspiring UPENN Student

Right now I am in High School (obviously) and I was wondering what it takes to get accepted to UPENN.

My grades aren’t so great as many have on this forum. Mainly due to my carefree mentality as a freshman and sophmore. I matured - a little to late. :frowning:
Nonetheless, I can still pull up my GPA to at least a 94.
I need to improve my writing skills and my language (vocabulary). [For the Essays and beyond…]

Anything else?

And can you guys please give me some advice on how to improve writing skills, and vocabulary. Also your study ethics, techniques, etc.

I would really appreciate it. I must improve! My dream is to become a lawyer. You have no idea how much it means to me :). I would like all the suggestions as possible.

THANKS!
yours truly,
Kyle

read more books
just keep reading
the faster you read the easier timed tests are and you will write better and have better vocab

Read "The Elements of Style" by E.B. White. It was like the one thing that AP English Language and Composition was good for.

elements of style dominates.

Thanks. I will order that within this week.

btw, you don't need to say UPENN. penn is just fine here. we all know it isn't the certain other school with a similar name.

what is the "certain other school"? lol

it shall never be named

:::shudders at the thought:::

hahaha. i shall explain:

the-school-that-must-not-be-named (wow, too much harry potter for me, sorry) is in pennsylvania as well. out of staters usually get confused between "it" and Upenn (even now, i'm still not sure if some of you here know the diff so i'll make a distinction). "it" is a state school while penn is not (though it may sound like it).

i just hope no one from psu is here. correct me if i'm wrong (bc i don't go to/didn't apply/am not a senior) but i think there's definitely a superiority thing going on around the area. esp with psu, drexel, temple, sju, etc.

ok. i think any psu kids are too busy rolling blunts to care enough about colleges to check out forums like this. about the superiority thing... we know were better than temple lasalle and sju but you will still prolly run into people from those schools at penn parties. drexel is just the object of such ridicule that theres really not any "letspartytogethercauseourcampusesareabouttwoblocksapart" feelings of amity there. and obviously, penn dominates psu. but psu kids are coc ky like no others about their school. and some have even tried to tell me that its "as hard to get into as penn" and that theyre just as awesome for going to state college. LIES

lol.

rolling blunts? what?

shorty, i know you're ms. penn or whatever, but i heard from some penn students that they've often seen drexel students at penn parties.

yah there's prolly a million kids from local high schools & colleges at penn on any given night for the sweet sweet parties ((which really only quiet down around midterms/finals)).... but i know none of my friends call up their drexel counterparts on the weekends or ever go to THEIR parties... also, drexel students in general sort of invade penns campus. theres always really shady people in that lil cell phone lounge on the second floor of van pelt and u can just tell by looking at them.
canadia i was referring to psu = major reefer school

get on aim once in a while you ****

ha i cant dude... u know how i told u i ran away? my parents couldnt think of any way to punish me so they disabled aim

you were serious?! tell me what happened. you're crazy, shorty!

you ran away?

for a night or so... it had to be done.

i'd never do that just because i'd be so scared of getting kidnapped or raped. i'd probably get lost on the way to the hotel anyway and die or something.
