Associate Degree Transfer to 4 year IM SCARED HELP PLEASE!

I live in North Carolina. I just completed my associate of arts degree. In North Carolina, community colleges have an Articulation Agreement with State Universities (which there are 16 of) that once a student graduates community college with either an Associate of Arts or Science, they will get guaranteed admission into at least one university. However, I have no choice in which university nor do I have a guarantee that I will get into the major/program of my choice. At the same time, the student is obviously allowed to apply to any state university of his choosing. The guarantee is basically just set up for the student if he does not get acceptance into any university on his own.

Now that I have given everyone background information, here is my dilemma:

My cumulative GPA (cumulative in the sense that even my NON-transfer courses count in this GPA) is a 2.3. Also, I dont want to go to a local university because I want to get out of my parents house and experience university life and be exposed to career opportunities in larger cities such as Charlotte (UNC Charlotte) and Raleigh (NC State University). Therefore, I will not rely on the state to place me into a university.

Having an associate degree DOES give you an advantage over other transfer students because students with an associate degree are basically relying on the state to further their education, thus the university admissions officers have to be very lenient with community college graduates. Also, community college graduates do show persistance and motivation in wanting to attain higher education.

I will be applying for the spring of 2013 to at least five state universities. What are my chances of being accepted? I want to major in Business Administration. The average transfer GPA requirement for these programs is around a 2.5 at least

Also, I did attend a community college prior to the one I graduated from in which I completely failed. I received credit for 3 out of like 14 classes (the other 11 classes are a combination of W's and F's). I was very immature and did not take my academics seriously. So I am worried that the transcript for this community college will weigh heavily against me in the eyes of the admission officers.

Basically, my question is what are my chances of getting into NC State or UNC Charlotte. I will send my application in as early as possible.

I apologize for the length of this post, I just wanted to provide all perspectives so that you guys/girls can help me to the best of your knowledge.

Realizing your mistake now is a step. However, it does not expunge what has already occurred. I am not familiar with NC schools, but a 2.5 will not look good to ANY admissions. I don’t want you to be discourage, but realistically you’re better off staying a extra year at your current school to raise your GPA. If you can accomplish that and can show you left your immaturity behind, and are actually driven, I see no reason admission will overlook that when applying.

Good luck!
