Associates Degree + Hospitality Diploma. Please Help?!!

Hey. I know this isnt exactly the place for it but I didn't know where to post this. I need some advice. :(

I am currently attending a Community College for Int. Business. I have less than 30 credits so far. But since I started, I do want to finish it off and have some kind of a degree diploma in my hands. Even though Bachelors is better one.

But i have recently decided that the hospitality industry is where I really want to work. I'm not sure if an associates in Int. Business would be enough for this so i searched on some schools in NY and found ''The Institute of Culinary Education'' where they give you a Hospitality Diploma after 10-13 months of training. While attending this school, I also want to continue attending my community college.

So, I want to finish both and have associates and a hospitality diploma in my hands. I just want to know if this way is worth it? Should I do this? I know, these two don't really equal a bachelors degree but i really need opinions and advices. Just kind of going through a time period where I feel really lost.

Please help. I will appreciate any response I get.
Thank You SO MUCH in advanced. :)

OMG…like its just one tiny advice. No one? Come on… :/

Check around the CCs in your area and find out which of them offer a hospitality program. Chances are that one does. If not, look for a college/university that you can afford that has a degree in hospitality. In New York State, the best one is [Cornell School of Hotel Administration](http://www.hotelschool.cornell.edu/)

It looks like the ICE is a for-profit organization. I can’t tell whether or not the credits it offers would transfer anywhere else if you wanted to continue on for a bachelor’s degree in hospitality. Before you spend all that money on a diploma course at ICE, make certain that it will actually get you a job where you will make enough money to pay off any loans you have to take out for your studies. You may be better off just looking for an entry-level job in the hospitality business, and working for a while. This is a career field that does not specifically require a degree in order to enter.

Outcast, get the associates out of your head… university, university, university.

Omg replies. Thank you so much :)

I really want to go to Cornell or NYU. But they are both such expensive schools.
And I am so bad at loans and financial related topics like that. :/

The Cornell Hospitality program is not easy to gain admission too. It requires very good board scores and a very high GPA as well as an interview. You may want to consider Florida for hospitality. It is actually in a very good location right near Disney which is a huge hopitality center and many of the students there are able to work at one of the many hotels or restuarants.

Go to the site www.chrieDOTorg.

Look at the top and see the link for publications. Click the “learn more” link under “Guide to College Programs.” It’s not the world’s best website, but play around for it a while and you’ll be able to use it. There is an actual physical book that is easier to use–it’s expensive, but see if yur CC librarian or your local public librarian can find it for you.

There’s other info on the site that may help. Read through some of the issues of Hosteur, for example.

I hope that helps!
