Associates Degree or skip it?

I was wondering whether other cc transfer students are planning on getting their associates before they transfer, or if they are just going to skip it. I still haven’t decided what I am going to do.

if you plan on transferring, Associate Degree will do you 0 good. ZERO. Totally useless, unless you consider having it as a filler for your resume.

If you have to take some useless courses to get it, don't even bother.

absolutely useless

If you need a short term goal, the AA would be a good benchmark. If you can do without such encouragement, then you don't need it--especially if the long term plan is to get a BA or graduate degree.

I'm getting one, I figure why not. I only extra thing I had to do was take three units of PE spring, which is UC transferable.
I know they are useless but, in 20 years when I apply for a job in the CIA, I'll have that little extra leg up on the competition.

I'm pretty sure that I already have all of the requirements; I just need to walk down to the office and fill out some papers with my counselor.

I just need one course. I'm contemplating on whether or not I should take it. =) I have no idea what the hell I would do with an associates degree in liberal studies. I mean, com'on, its not like i'm going to land a 6 figure a year job with an associates degree. Although, it has been quite awhile since I framed another degree, certificate, or award to my wall.

i'm skipping it..and i haven't thought twice about it....

I know we should not be ashamed that we have all gone to a community college, but nevertheless it is difficult to sometimes escape the stigma that is associated with it outside of the CC world. IsleBoy makes a good point, unless you need to use it as a short term goal for self motivation, I would urge any transfer hopefuls not to get an AA degree. If you use it on your resume, it will definitely not be looked at favorably, it may be overlooked, but there is a chance it could be seen as something unfavorable. I am not saying that this is they way things ought to be but rather unfortunately, this is just the way it in fact is.
