Is there any practical difference between taking the two since it's a cross-listed course? If they are the same, I figure enrolling in Astro C10 would be more explanatory on the transcript. Science is not my strong-point, and I have very little background in physics, so is L & S C70U is more likely to take that into account? Should I enroll in that instead?

they are the exact same class.
if you pull the two listings up side by side, you’d see they are at the same place, at the same time, on the same days, with the same (the one, the only) professor.

there are just a certain amount of seats in wheeler (fits 700+ people) reserved for the astronomy dept, and other seats reserved for the L&S dept. (usually helps since everyone signs up for astro c10 and then the phaseIIers all cry “booo why are all the seats full? :(” but little did they know there were many many open seats left for the class under its crosslisting (l&s c70u…))

for future reference, all cross-listed classes are all in the same ONE class.

"L & S C70U is more likely to take that into account? Should I enroll in that instead? "

this type of thinking should be brought up for classes like math 16a vs math 1a, stat 2 vs the 20 series, econ 101a vs ugba 100a, etc etc.

(some may or may not satisfy the same reqs, depending on your major and what UD’s you want to take in the future, however. cross that bridge when you get to it.)

EDIT: and oh, I took L&S C70U, back in the day btw. yes, it looks very weird on my transcript. lol.

Thanks, very informative. :)
