ASU Acceptance

As a freshman, first-time applicant (senior), they admitted me. However, they admitted me for Summer 2017 rather than Fall 2017… is this a mistake? This has happened to a couple of my friends who also received their acceptance letter. What does this mean?

You should call the admissions office. They’ll be able to clear it up. You should be able to easily defer to your desired semester start.

This happened to my son too and called admissions - they said that it was not a problem so I didn’t get a really definitive answer. What did they say when you called?

Apparently I forgot to send my ACT scores, so I was not able to get into the Nursing BSN Major and have take the Pre-reqs during Summer 2017. Eventually I sent my ACT scores in and was able to switch my major into Nursing from Community Health BS (They won’t let you into Nursing unless you have ACT scores and a competitive applicant). Now, I am registered for Fall 2017 now after clarifying with admissions office. I’m not sure why others have admissions to Summer 2017. I would find out if your son is deciding whether or not to attend ASU asap.

@ThatDeafkid , I had the same concern when I read the acceptance letter. Everything is find. Here is a slightly paraphrased copy of what Admissions sent me… “Students who are admitted for a fall term have actually been admitted for the preceding summer term as well. This is to give students a chance to get a jump start on a class or two before officially starting in the fall. We by no means require or expect students to do this, but the option is there. **** has definitely been admitted for the fall semester and I know the letter is not clear about this at all. Once he starts completing his next steps, you will see that they all follow a timeline that aligns with starting classes in the fall. Nothing needs to be fixed and his scholarship eligibility has not been compromised.” Hope this helps!
