Florida State

What does it mean that I have been accepted but have to go to the Summer 2018 Term. I know I have to go to “summer school” but what does that term mean and what kind of classes/how many etc…would I have to take

I’ve read in other posts that it means that they’re just giving you a chance to attend their school still because your stats are (probably) lower than their fall admissions middle 50% profile (and they don’t want their fall averages to go down). Summer 2018 term just means that you will be starting college a semester early from June to August, then merging with the fall class.

It means you start during the Summer C semester (basically mid-June to early August) instead of starting in the Fall semester. It means you didn’t meet the cutoff for fall acceptance, but that FSU still wanted to offer you admission.

You’d take 2 classes (you have to take 9 credits over a summer semester anyway, this at least would knock out 6-7 of them). They’re 6-week classes so you’d probably meet almost every day. It’d be a lot like a transition period between high school and when college (with classes 2-3 days a week instead of every day, etc) began. You could knock out a couple pre-reqs that might not otherwise fit during the fall semester and give you a potential leg up on everyone that starts in the fall.

I wouldn’t look at it as “summer school.” (like a negative) I’d look at it as a chance to ease into the college scene in a lower stress situation and get some credits under your belt. I know some people who were accepted for Fall who decided to start in the summer for this very reason. Look at it as a great opportunity, because it really is. When Fall starts you’ll already have some friends. Congratulations!
