ASU or SDSU?

I am kinda stump on which school to go to. Which is better socially and academically.

I’m going to major in business and possibly film.

Oh yeah which has nicer dorms?

Both have good business schools. I am going to ASU and majoring in Marketing and minoring in Film. One of the things I factored in to my decision to leave Cali and go to ASU was the budget problems Cali schools are facing. ASU=Lots of Money=Nicer amenities. SDSU=Budget Cuts=Lack of resources possibly. SDSU has the beach though…

I wouldn’t be so sure about that. The first thing that gets cut from the AZ budget is education, and AZ is already near dead last for funding. Every university to a degree has problems with the recession but ASU has made some cuts, mergers etc… that might detract from an otherwise decent education.

I live in San Diego now and graduated from ASU in 2007. The problem that SDSU has is that it is the 3rd best school academically in its own metro area (Ranked lower than UCSD and USD). ASU on the other hand is has no real competition in Phoenix, which is a bigger city than San Diego.

Sure, SD has the beach… I grew up around the beach, so perhaps I overlook this. Furthermore SDSU is not very close to the beach like UCSD (La Jolla) or USD (overlooking Mission Bay). SDSU is actually quite far inland and in a mostly residential area.

ASU has a lot more going on right around the school than SDSU. WAY better socially. Pac 10 sports are a huge deal. Nobody cares about SDSU sports and they play football off campus (and mostly lose every season). There are wild parties at either school, but ASU has it dominated with the atmosphere on Mill Avenue, Sun Devil Stadium, etc.

Furthermore, when you get older like me (24) nightlife in Scottsdale is probably better than what we have here in San Diego (I live downtown).

If you’re from CA, don’t worry about the heat. You’ll get used to it. Just go home for the Summer!

ASU’s business program is ranked significantly higher than SDSU’s. Pac 10 schools in general provide a better employment network. Even if ASU cut its budget 50%, it would have more academic funding than SDSU. Cal. State schools are glorified community colleges, and employers look at them as such.

If your budget is VERY tight and you are in state, go to SDSU. Otherwise ASU is a much better opportunity for you, especially as a business major.

DORMS: ASU has built TONS of BRAND NEW dorms over the last few years…
