My son and I just went to accepted students day for the business school at ASU. It was super impressive but I am just curious if it’s as good as they pitched it to be. They said intern placements and job placements are very high coming out of the Carey School. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts in regards the WP Carey School of Business at ASU school that they can share?
My D will be entering Barrett at ASU in the fall, so I don’t know but there are two Facebook groups that I am in where you can ask this question. ASU Sun Devil Momz and ASU Moms. They are both closed groups but just request to join and ask a few questions related to ASU and they will let you in. Tons of helpful information in these groups and I am sure you will get a lot of responses to your query.
@wish50 My son was also accepted to the WP Carey School of Business & Barrett Honors College so we are attending the Sun Devil Day on April 18th. I didn’t see a true “admitted students” day like we are attending at CU Boulder this coming weekend. Was it at a “Sun Devil Day” that you were able to sit in on the Carey presentation and did you have to register for it in advance? Please share any feedback you get about the school as we are having a tough time deciding between the two (Leeds Honors RAP program at CU Boulder and WP Carey/Barrett). BTW we are OOS from California but have family in AZ.
Yes, it was Sun Devil Day however they separated the seniors out so to address them differently. They also had a session for JUST the business school admits. WP Carey pairs each freshman up with a WPC upper class man mentor. There is a ton of new business in the Phoenix area that the President of ASU was instrumental in bringing there to help ASU grads with employment. I like how all of the WPC students live in the same 2 dorms.
We are an OOS from Connecticut and have a pretty full Spring calendar, therefore will not be able to attend the Boulder Accepted Day this Friday. Please let me know how it is.
Thank you @wish50. We will let you know what our impression of CU Boulder is:) Did your son get into Leeds as well?
@wish50 - I have my MBA from WPC. My experience is a little different since I was an online student. For on campus and undergrad, they have a TON of resources. They also have a good draw at career fairs. As with anything, its what you put into it. If you sit back and wait for the internships or job offers to come in, you will be disappointed. The Career Center will help anyone who seeks them out.
@wish50 So update on CU Boulder Leeds. My S and husband visited this past weekend during Admitted Students Day. They really rolled out the red carpet for them and found all the staff including the Dean of Leeds very accessible. They spent time discussing the business program and all the opportunities including the RAP, Honors & the Fellowship programs, all pretty strong options. In the end my S decided it probably isn’t the school for him as he is really looking for a large school in a big city with lots going on. Besides it’s hard to justify the OOS cost of this school even with a Chancellors Scholarship. So we are revisiting ASU’s WP Carey/Barrett next week but we are leaning heavily towards that one now. Let me know if you have any specific questions and I’ll try to answer them!
