Athletic Training Major - College Search

Hi there,

I'd like to apologise ahead of time if this may have been placed in the wrong forum, the site tends to be a little complex. I'm planning on attending university of Athletic Training, and get a BSAT with emphasis on something that allows me to teach at a high school, or university. I'm sure most of you are unfamiliar with the accrediation processes, but some schools are accredited to teach the major and others are not.

I really need to attend an accredited AT university, that is close enough to home. I live in Texas, so that really leaves me with Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana. I'm going to list the schools for you below, and would really like some honest advice about the ones you are aware of. I personally am in big on college athletics and support the UT Longhorns, although I know that cannot be the only place that I apply to.

The following aren't all the accredited universitites, but rather just the ones that are on my radar. Most of the others are too small for my taste.

Texas:
Baylor University, Waco, TX
Texas Christian University, Fort Worth/Dallas, TX
Univeristy of Texas - Austin, Austin, TX
Texas State University, San Marcos, TX

Oklahoma:
Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, OK

Louisiana:
Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA

Arkansas:
University of Arkansas, Fayetteville

I’m not really looking at this as a “chances” thread, but rather trying to gain a solid list of universities I may be interested in, before I go into see how I compare to their regular statistics.

Some simple background information though is that I have been in Sports Medicine courses (and will continue to take them) throughout highschool, and that I contribute about 800 hours a school year to Sports Medicine / Athletic Training.

I’m surprised there aren’t more responses, must be something that most people aren’t aware of or interested in. :/

Hmm… Maybe I should have a different title. :P
