I'm not much of an athlete... Sad to say it, but it's true. Do colleges care if you had zero participation in sports or not though? I make up for it in other fields like service, arts, forensics, etc. but there's just a lack of athletics on my high school record. How worried should I be?

They aren’t looking that you have certain sports on your record. So long you have a few clubs that you are really involved in and fit your interests, that is good enough.

Athletics are not “necessary” but it does show that the athlete has had to balance a rigorous HS course load with clubs, volunteering, work and team competitions. Our athletes (with high stats) are the first to receive offers from the colleges with scholarships.

About 90% of the 3000 or so US colleges solely admit on transcript and test scores you know. Very few of them will even look at your EC list: Olympic sprinter or unable to walk a straight line — doesn’t matter to them.

I’ve also noticed you’ve asked quite a series of questions. MOst all of them have been commented on repeatedly. Perhaps read more and post less in your initial foray into College Confidential. The search function, with a keyword or two is great to use

Only the service academies care about ensuring all admitted students were athletes. Otherwise it’s just another EC (barring being recruited).
