In regards to college admissions...should i attach a resume?

At the UT info session, we were told to definitely attach a very thorough one. Guess it depends on the school

You should do it. You won’t have space on the common to cover everything in detail. There’s a place on the common app to attach it.

Should you repeat things on the resume from your common app then so that everything is in one place? And would it be like a job resume with an objective and references and everything?

was wondering the same thing - the only thing that a resume would provide additionally, for me, would be a couple more extracurriculars which would otherwise not go on the commonapp due to shortage of slots, but other than that everything that normally goes on a resume (GPA, objective, awards, etc) would already be on the commonapp. Would a resume be worth it just for those few ECs?

Also, I think it is important to consider the possibility that adcoms may get annoyed if they have to look-over another piece or two.

I just can’t decide whether to attach one or not.

also, sgtpepper mentioned describing your EC’s “in detail” - how important would this be? Is the commonapp designed so that there is no space for me to describe what I did for each of my ECs? (haven’t registered an account yet)

If the commonapp has space for me to just LIST off my ECs (without detaiL), I think a resume could serve as substantial since I could explain the roles, leadership, and experiences on a resume.

yes, attach a resume. but be as brief as possible. only elaborate on an EC if it brings out something new that the common app does not show.

i have a litany of awards to list(school, regional, and state) , so can i do that on a resume?

The UT lady said the reason the longer resume is helpful is that acronyms used for space reasons on the Common App might not be decipherable to the admissions office. Hence, attached resume would be the place where you could explain what the SCKEKF Award is.
