Hello, everyone. This is my first post on CC. I have had a question about my attendance throughout high school, and if it will affect my chances of getting into college. I have had only 3 abscences my sophomore year, 1 or 2 freshman year. But, junior year, I have a total of 16 abscences. This year, I have 10 so far.. Will this affect my chances of getting into Ivy League colleges? I have a 3.85 GPA, and expect straight A's this semester. I am enrolled in 5 AP's, 3 last year, and 1 sophomore year, all else GT level. I also have a 2120 total SAT (710 Math, 700 Reading, 710 Writing), and am involved in many extracurriculars (SCA, Robotics, Badminton, Tennis, Academic Team). I am considering applying to Columbia, Penn, Yale, Brown, UChicago. And yes, my absences do show up on my transcript, but only as abscences, not excused or unexcused, and no tardies appear.

They’re relevant as only how it affected your GPA. GPA performance is the sole consideration – not how healthy you were by chance any given year.

I had 28+ absences in freshman and sophomore year (with more than more than my share of tardies). My sister missed eight weeks of her junior year. I don’t think it’s an issue as long as your GPA doesn’t wilt.
