My stats are a bit below average compared to UW's reports. I'm a junior in high school, and I was wondering if I go to a community college (say, BCC), would it be easier to get in by transferring? I'd really like to move back to WA (I'm currently in Texas), but the only colleges I'm considering are UW and Western up in Bellingham. Any thoughts?

Ugh…don’t go to BCC (now simply “BC”)…too many air-headed brats…

If you want a CC in the Puget Sound area, look into Shoreline or North Seattle CC. Central’s good, too.

Transferring into a major is generally no harder than getting admitted into upper-division as a UW student, with the exception of certain extra-competitive majors (A friend of mine got denied by the Bioengineering department. With a 3.92 GPA. Her poor soul is now banished to WSU.)

It’ll always be BCC in my mind. :P

I have gotten used to those air-headed/spoiled brats because I used to go to school with them in Bellevue. Besides that, Bellevue’s awesome! :D

Yeah, I’m currently going to BCC. I got into WSU, however my parents think WSU is a crappy school, so they’re making me go to BCC so I can go to UW. Balls.

First time I’ve heard Bellevue and awesome in the same sentence!!

Bellevue is AWESOME.

That’s your second time. The only thing wrong with Bellevue is that it’s very expensive, and there are some people that are very bratty (not as many as you think!).

BAM! I just got into UW BTW FTW
My unofficial transcript loaded!!!

Congratulations! :)

Thanks. I’m just waiting to the actual letter to arrive now.

Let us know when your letter arrives?! haha. thanks.

Bellevue College is a good school. It’s the second largest institution in the state and has a friendly transfer relationship with UW. To answer your question, you will have to do well at BC to become competitive, but it is not a bad option if UW is your school of choice.

Thanks joworo14.

I got my letter on Friday, Nov 20. Kind of sucks because the application to the major I wanted to do passed in the Fall.
