i applied dec 5th, application complete dec 16th? and i just got deferred feb 14th

my WA page still hasn't changed yet even though i got that letter...is it supposed to? and does this mean they look at mid year transcripts to help decide?

Since UM has rolling admissions, do they prescreen the apps? I mean do they put the really high test scores, for example, into one pile for immediate action and the not-so-high ones in another pile? Is that why some are notified sooner than others? Maybe they want to snatch up those with high scores and the others can wait for the wheels to grind slowly?? Rumors abound that test scores are THE deciding factor at UM..

Test scores don't mean as much. Most kids (especially the in-staters) who apply to Michigan never prepare for the SAT/ACT and take the test once. Those who go to private high schools, prepare for the SAT and take it several times can improve their scores by 200 points. That does not make them more capable or intelligent. I like Michigan's approach to admissions. Unweighed GPA, coupled with curriculum toughness should be the most important criteria in determining student potential.

Hey Pyar...I remember you from the Penn board. Did UMich accept you? I'm going to Campus Day in March. Maybe I'll run into you.
Mich is much better than Penn...and their football team is better!

Pyar...I submitted the last part of my application 12/30 (app was complete according to their site 1/3) and got the last e-mail with my ID and info to set up an account to check the status on 1/17.

It takes about 3 weeks to get your UMID (on AVERAGE) from the day you submit your app. Then it usually takes one week for everything to get updated on WA.

I doubt I'll get into Penn because I haven't sucked up to my admissions rep like the letter from the legacy office told me to do. The reasoN? Like I said I don't think I want Penn anymore.
I'm also waiting to hear from Georgetown and Cornell. If I get in, I think I'll have a tough time deciding amonst UNC-Chapel Hill, Umich and Cornell.
Too many criminals at Penn. It scares me.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!!!!!
people were accepted yesterday, and they applied in dec. and jan. wt-f!
i applied 11/14 and its been 14 weeks and ive already called twice and they still haven't made a decision. i know that my original admissions counselor is now on maternity leave, but UGHHHHHHHHHHHH
my stats aren't amazing, but seriously, shouldn't i have heard by now?
i want to call again, but i dont want to be annoying.

brenna.brown...my daughter applied October and just heard officially today that she was accepted. Did you send in your last semester grades? We did to be on the safe side and I'm thinking that was the deciding factor for them. I know many applicants are having to wait a lot longer than others and I am not sure why? It would be nice to know why? My daughter's stats were definitely par or above to those who were accepted within a few weeks.
I keep saying patience. We were over the 12-14 week period too.
