Attention all Sophmores!

Hey just wondering, I'm taking the PSATS next year and I want to do very well on it(closest to a possible scores possible),and i was wondering if is the PSAT just like the SAT? I was thinking about buying SAT prep books, and thought it could help me with the PSAT. Is this true?

Okay, I think you meant "Attention Juniors" because Junior Year is when it actually counts (for Merit Semi, Finalist, etc) and when everyone takes it. Sophomore Year is mostly for practice. I'm a sophomore who took it, so I can tell you:

1) The PSAT math is much easier than SAT math. You only need freshman level math.
2) The Writing and Critical Reading sections are comparable to SAT.
3) The curves are much harder, due to less questions and smaller amount of time (ex. 1 wrong on math, not to scare you, is about a 77/80)

I studied with a pure PSAT book (ended up being somewhat helpful) (you could probably ask for a better book in the "SAT/ACT" section under PSAT prep. The SAT books I used helped a lot for the math, as the PSAT was a lot easier in some respects, but the book was much better in terms of looking for tricks, etc.
