SO, I have been dreaming of attending UCHICAGO since freshman year of high school, but I was unfortunately just deferred, along with what seems like everyone else who did not get accepted. Since we are all fabulous (apparently too fabulous for UChicago) and interesting people, I was wondering where y'all are planning to apply now. I'd like to meet Uchicagoish people at the college I end up at, even though it will probably not be Uchicago! So, let's make a list of our second choice schools. Hopefully we can unite someplace!!!

I am now hoping for either Wesleyan, Berkeley, McGill, or Brown! What about you guys???? Let's be friends?!

haha, I thought this was relatively funny to read. I’m not relatively sure why I was denied… still getting over that.
Well I’m applying to cornell and deferred from rice. Got into UIUC and iowa.
Lets be friends.

Hello deferred buddies! Guess we’ll see in april, though at least we have a shot I applied to American U, College of William and Mary, TCNJ, Boston University, and University of Maryland- College Park

It’s nice to see that other people are in the same boat as me. Strangely, it seems that most of the CC people were either accepted or deferred. Granted, there is a bias, but still… it doesn’t give me much hope.

Anyways, @Insouciant, I also applied to BostonU and UMaryland-College Park. Maybe we’ll be buddies at either of those schools if we don’t get into Chicago.
I will be applying to Johns Hopkins, Penn, Tufts, Georgetown, NYU, Cornell, Brown.

@nondairycreamer: If you were denied, would you have posted your stats? The CC threads are not good indications for two reasons: first, as I alluded, typically only people who are accepted or deferred post their stats; second, most people who post on CC are, obviously, extremely interested in their college search and spend a lot of time researching, working on their app, etc… usually, not always, means that they’re stronger applicants.

I’d like to say something: I’m HockeyMom’s daughter with the 22/23 ACT. Yeah, I was actually deferred with a 22 ACT where there are also kids with 30+ who are rejected/deferred. First of all, I’ll commend them for doing so well on a test that I struggled with. I’d just like to say that test scores aren’t everything; I had a successful interview and I think that’s what did it. I wrote to the best of my ability and my recs were probably positive. I may not be the brightest bulb in the pack, but they saw something in me that kept them from rejecting me.

Also, this is for all those kids who chastised me a few months ago for even thinking about applying here when I mistakinly posted my stats: who has a chance? This guy!

For future students out there with low ACT scores: DON’T LOSE HOPE!!!

Have a merry christmas and good luck with college searches!

@rbouwens: Quit copying and pasting that message. Its great you got deferred, but seriously, if no one read the results thread they would not know who HockeyMom is.

Guys I know you don’t feel to hot right now, but great job! Whether you were deffered or rejected there is still hope! Uchicago had around 6900 applicants last year and about 8600 this year. If they accepted around 1700 kids like they did last year than the acceptance rate should be around 19%. Too be honest with you, EA acceptance rates were probably on par with the ivy league early decision acceptance rates–and possible lower than some of them.

@Ieatkids Lol…loosen up. Do you think he is reposting just to annoy you?..No, he is not! He just wants 2 give people hope. Wallow in your misery alone.

Guys, it’s all right!!! I’m just trying to make a point that scores aren’t everything. At any rate, you guys would have a better chance at admission than I would…you’ll probably get into a great school anyway.

U Chicago is my top choice and Caltech is my second. I was deferred at both. UC accepts 10% of their deferred applicants, Caltech accepts 16%. How crazy is that?
Accepted at University of Tennessee and at South Carolina (waiting for honors college decisions at both). Applied to Vanderbilt. Still have to submit applications to Rice and Furman. But I fell in love with Chicago when I visited and I’m having a hard time picturing myself happy somewhere else.

Same feeling here. I am trying to picture myself at other Universities, and I prob would feel like a UChicago-reject/wanna-be at other colleges.

nondairycreamer & LCrocks, I feel the same way. I honestly cannot even bring myself to fill out the supplements for my regular decision schools because I don’t want to go to them. I picture myself at UChicago whenever I talk about college, and I really don’t want to go anywhere else. If I end up going to a different college I’ll probably try to transfer to UChicago, and if that doesn’t work out I’ll apply there for grad school. It’s so ****ty that it keeps getting harder and harder to get in because people who don’t really want to go there apply :’(

Ahhh. I’m so glad this thread exists!
I’ve been accepted at UW Madison and Tulane.
I’ve applied to: UChicago (deferred), Wesleyan, Vassar, Swarthmore, Carleton, Washington University in St. Louis, and Northwestern.

I’m feeling confident that I’ll be rejected at each of those seven.
I don’t think I’ll be able to pull a 4.0 this semester. Chicago already deferred me with a 3.99, so I’m betting those other schools won’t like it when I’ve got a 3.97 (not a huge change, but a downward trend nonethless)…

Who here is going to actively pursue Chicago?

Well, I also applied to U of Notre Damn(accepted), Caltech, UCBerkeley, Cornell, Duke and NYU. But I really hope to be accepted by UChicago in RD pool…

I don’t really know what I’m going to do. I was accepted at my tied 1st-choice school (Beloit), but I’ll be waiting for decisions until April 1st for UChicago, Denison, UMichigan, Kenyon, and Oberlin. I’m not expecting to be accepted to any, so I’ll just see what happens.

im in at tulane too siriusly! very happy to have that acceptance after hearing from chicago
also in at clark and university of vermont and waiting to hear from haverford, tufts, kenyon, and columbia (just for kicks and because im legacy)
