Attention, Official Canadian Applicant Thread!!!!!!!11

hey guys, what date should we expect our packages (acceptances arrive before rejections, right?) if they are mailed on the 11th

well. i am ASIAN MALE :( yeah.. statistically low chance...

Yes indeed,

International acceptances are mailed by DHL on Friday the eleventh so should arrive to those Canadians who get IN by Monday the 14 th. Conversely, rejectance letters are sent by regular mail, meaning that if you don't get anything by Monday or at the latest Tuesday, you know that it's not good. That's how it works. Btw, my principal is sending my SS report for Pton tomorrow, lol. We did mail it for the January deadline but those people didn't get it, I wonder why... They are prety disorganised, since they also lost my SAT report sent by the collegeboard. Do you thing that if they get it Tuesday or Wednesday, that will be too late? Thanks for the info.

Jean Leloup

Hey everyone,

I'm also a Canadian applying from Montreal, Quebec. I can't believe the decisions are coming in one week...Well, good luck to everyone...5% ack

that makes it 5 Canadian-MIT-International applicants on this board.. come on guys, we need 20 to have a statistical significant chance of one of us getting in. :p

Hey Man,

From reading your other post I realized that you also attend Marianopolis College and that you Know Ye Tao. We'll good luck with acceptances. I'm a first year so it is less stressful for me than it must be for you. What do you want to major in?

Later

Jean

now is five?
well, my girlfriend applied as well, and i believed she has a good chance(2005 times better than me).
so, now we have six.

lol 20 for a statistical significant chance..that's a very good way to look at things indeed :P So right now exactly 1/4 of an applicant is expected to get in..hmm one waitlist? hehe

I applied for mathematics. You're a first year? That's pretty neat.

Did you guys apply to waterloo?

nope :(,

and dajiang, where is your gf from?

Hey guys! I'm a girl from St. John's, Newfoundland...

I've always wanted to go to MIT - I can't believe the decisions are coming in a week either! Currently, I'm looking at a biomedical engineering or the like for program.

Accomplishments? Nothing really that special. Perfect SATs all around, scholarship to Shad Valley, provincial maths awards, standard instrumentalist...

I'm so nervous!! I'm going to be stunned in all my classes this week. Good luck everyone!! :)

she is a chinese, knows how to speak mandarin(and so do i)
and i did not apply to waterloo neither, for canada, i just wannta go U of T.
if i got rejected by both schools, i gonna stay another year.

I agree. I did not apply to Waterloo either. U of T is my top choice. I went to visit for scholarship interviews last week and just fell in love. Biomedical engineering there looks really good as well.

matheholic,

you look like a very solid applicant to me!! good luck!

Hey everyone and welcome!! Matheholic we are all happy you have joined us in waiting,

Indeed you look like a great candidate for MIT and the fact that you come from Newfoundland makes things even more impressive. Well, as my post has mentionned, if you are really anxious to learn about decisions fast as in Friday, but most likely, Saturday during the day, you can call DHL Canada's 1 800 number, tell the operator that you are expecting a pakage for your given name, postal code, location, etc. If the person cannot find anything on Saturday evening let's say, well, you know that it wasn't meant to be.

Here is the website if you wish to do this:

<a href="http://www.dhl.com/publish/g0/en/information/countrydetails.high.html?appPath=L1BhZ2VMYXlvdXQuc3ZyO2pzZXNzaW9uaWQ9Q3BTN2x6U0whNTg3MjEwMjg2IS05NTM1OTk2ODUhNjAwMiEtMT9BUFBfSUQ9Q3RyeURldFJlc3VsdCZoaWRlVGl0bGVUZXh0PTEmY3RyeUNvZGU9*ca%5B/url%5D">http://www.dhl.com/publish/g0/en/information/countrydetails.high.html?appPath=L1BhZ2VMYXlvdXQuc3ZyO2pzZXNzaW9uaWQ9Q3BTN2x6U0whNTg3MjEwMjg2IS05NTM1OTk2ODUhNjAwMiEtMT9BUFBfSUQ9Q3RyeURldFJlc3VsdCZoaWRlVGl0bGVUZXh0PTEmY3RyeUNvZGU9*ca</a></p>

Wow that is huge. Anyway, you can expect to hear my bad or maybe(unlikely) good news during the weekend. Until then, keep tight guys and girls. I hope someone else will also try this technique that was brought to me by a helpful international student on another thread.

Best of luck,

Jean Leloup

WOW! THX! that is totally awesome.. i did that for princeton ed.. and found out i got deferred.. hope this works!

ohh, i was just thinking.. maybe we can even call on friday.. b/c the mail should be registered as soon as it's mailed out... right?

Hehe, yes I'm guessing your right. But then again, I don't work for DHL. I will try Friday. If they say nothing, I'll call on Saturday to kill the doubt in my mind because you never know exactly how often their sorting/tracking systems databases are updated. Friday is a safe bet though!

Hey,

Have any of you Canadians called DHL to see if a package is coming your way? Since this is the Canadian thread, the rule is you have to post your decision here first, regardless of wether it is good or bad. Best of luck!

Sincerely,

Jean Leloup

I haven't called...its too freaky. I'll just wait it out till Monday or a later date in the week. (How long does regular mail take to get Toronto? Anyone have any guesses)

Goold Luck Canucks!
