Your "facts" have been gotten by too many hours in DARE class.

Sounds like a very adverse response to idea of not drinking. :)

Anyways, people do die from drinking in moderation. People drive cars after only a few drinks thinking they're fine every year and kill upwards of 20,000 people.

I agree with kchen, post this somewhere where there's at least a majority of people who are actually allowed to drink legally.

lets make a clear distinction here:

Drinking is bad.

NO

Drinking and driving is bad.

YES

Never said drinking was bad, just pointing out that deaths can result from drinking, even in moderation.

Ryan, thank you for posting that so I didn't have to.

People don't die from drinking in moderation, they die from drinking in moderation then driving. Obviously, DUI is a terrible idea which should always be fully prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

so I didn't have to.

Dunno why that brings a smirk to my face, but it does.

Sure, deaths can result from flying in moderation too, or even just driving in moderation. Whats your point?

This shouldn't be a discussion of drinking vs. non drinking. It should be an overall discussion of imposing moral beliefs. From my interpreation of OPs post, he makes it clear that drinkers do not want to be classified and automatically judged by non drinkers based on the non drinkers morals. He's just saying: "if you don't like it don't do it, but don't tell me not to do it"

here's how i think of this.

i really don't care if other students drink their selves to death. not my problem.

if you can't stand the peer pressure, how the h*** are you going to survive in the "real world"?

if you're stupid enough to do it, you deserve to get it.

its not easy, but its not hard either.

To get what?

My point was to counter the contention that "no one's ever died from drinking in moderation." Though driving in moderation is damned dangerous too. Heh.

to OP: you should start to drink....maybe it will ease you up.....

heh.. sometimes posts here remind me of my 9th grade health class.. the videos we watched were full of stories about kids who died after having 1 drink.. i'm not sure whether these stories were just made up or these kids had a 1 in a million condition. either way our school definitely uses scare tactics to discourage us from drinking instead of being rational about it. i'm not saying they should in any way encourage underage drinking, but they don't need to be ridiculous about it

to get punished

i was mainly thinking of jail, certain rights taken away, etc.
maybe death, but thats a little harsh.

If you get drunk you'll get pregnant, roofied, expelled from college and condemned to live in a large carboard box on a street corner for all of eternity. If you are thinking, "But I am a guy an this cannot happen to me", then you are dead wrong.

lmfao, died after one drink? they must have been >50lbs

i disagree, its all about your mental strength. you can decide to quit.

Disagree with what, my anti-drinking advertisement?

BestMiler1 - :)

so ubi_sum: if i'm "stupid" enough to drink, i deserve what punishment can be meted out against me? that is neither here nor there, as i do believe that our 21-year-old laws here in the US are BS, but if I decide to drink underage, I am fully aware and accept the consequences associated therewith.

that doesn't mean i'm not running from the 5-0 though.

edit: and just because i choose to drink does not mean i'm too weak-minded to choose otherwise.

HiImAnAlcoholic, you're right. I saw a bum the other day in the city who told me if he'd never had that first natty lite, he'd never have gotten pregnant and would never have been on that street corner... lol
