<p>@arekanderina- i took an intro java course and it was pretty tedious but once you move onto the cooler stuff it gets a lot better! when you’re first learning it’s about syntax but the elegant solutions come later.</p>

<p>That’s cool I guess arekanderina. The cool part about CS to me is not the coding, imo. Computer Science is a mindset that addresses computation in general. Taking CS classes (I took CSI and CSII at my high school, CSII being hardware/logic stuff) has kind of reshaped how I think. It’s interesting you mention bio…I’m taking AP Bio right now and it sucks big time. I hope I never have to take a bio class ever again. For the CS required minor, I was hoping to minor Music Tech.</p>
<p>It’s interesting you mentioned the Asian family thing…I’m a proud mudblood (half-Filipino and half-white, frequently mistaken for Japanese), and though I’m pretty sure my dad was disappointed I didn’t want to do a life science (he’s a PhD in biochem), he insists that I’ll buy him a Hummer and pay for his plane tickets to the Philippines. LOL.</p>

Im actually ‘studying’ for a Java practical now… (it starts at 12, what a bummer) I have the logic, but implementing it is just ARGH for me. I kind of wrote about how programming is a form of art, I crapped some nonsense about how from a blank page one can transform it into a masterpiece bla bla bla. <em>stabs syntax errors in blueJ</em></p>

I picked up programming from my dad really. he’s doing a PhD on genetic algorithms for now @__@ he’s a real techie, probably more updated than I am in the IT world.</p>
