<p>Thought some of you might like to know how the Class attrition rates at USMA and USNA compare for the Classes of 2006-09. Some of the original numbers don't quite match published class profiles. I think it's because heldback cadets are assigned to the next class year. </p>
<p>Overall it looks like the class attrition rates for the new classes are in line with historical rates. For all the complaining we hear from the plebes, the vast majority of them choose to stay at the academies. God bless them all.</p>

<p>Or recruiting more cadets that look like Jordana Brewster. Please note I said "more" as in additional, not "some". Hope that's politic enough.</p>
<p>BTW - the class rank information our son sent us showed that his ranking - post-completion of first semester - was against a class of 1164 - I wonder if they lost 25 over the Holiday Break?</p>
<p>Minimum Quality Point Averages for USMA.

<p>In addition to passing each required course (D or better), cadets must achieve a minimum Cumulative QPA of 2.00 in order to graduate. However some leeway is allowed in the early years. Minimum cumulative QPA for fourth year cadets is 1.7, third year is 1.9 , and second year is 1.95.</p>
<p>A cadet falling below these minimums is put on academic probation and subject to the following:</p>
<ol>
<li><p>Mandatory counseling by an assigned academic counselor. </p></li>
<li><p>Mandatory review of chain of command duties by the company tactical officer with a view toward reducing time requirements. </p></li>
<li><p>Assessed room tours in lieu of area tours.(Don't know what this means.) </p></li>
<li><p>Subject to reduced privileges.</p></li>
<li><p>Limited to participation in one extracurricular activity or Corps Squad sport at a time. </p></li>
<li><p>Ineligible to participate in events which involve the loss of academic time, either class or evening study period (e.g., away booster trip sections, spectator at home athletic contests, extracurricular activity events [Director of Cadet Activities (DCA) and religious trips], voluntary lectures or films, Cadet Public Relations Council (CPRC), conferences, etc.), except for participation in the one extracurricular activity provided for above. Participation in a mandatory educational trip that is required for a course is permitted.</p></li>
<li><p>Not authorized to use the following facilities during evening study period: day room, post movie, and Eisenhower Hall (except to attend mandatory lectures). Cadets on academic probation may purchase take-out food at Grant Hall. No stopping to socialize is authorized. Cadets are not authorized to consume beverages or food while they wait for their order.</p></li>
