I got an email saying I was accepted but did not apply.

You did not get accepted to the program. The email saying you did is a glitch sent to everyone who didn’t get in or didn’t apply.

got it, thank you

The email is a mistake. You can ignore it.

Are you affiliated with the university?

No, not directly.

You comment very matter-of-factly when providing clarifications!

I promise I’m not a staff member. I’m basing the email thing off of the fact that the exact same thing happened during the ED round.

These repeated “glitches” do not inspire confidence about the institution. This seems like basic stuff . . .makes you wonder what registering for classes/housing/ etc would be like.

email your regional admission’s rep for confirmation.

My son did not apply to the Honors College yet tonight he received a congratulatory e-mail for admitted honors college students. As he did not apply, did not write an essay, etc, could this be a mistake? There was no mention of honors college is his acceptance letter yesterday, nor was there a “submitted honors college” tab on the portal where he could check status. Anyone else experience this? He’s grateful but stunned. Thanks!

It was apparently an error. From discussion above, seems all the students that did NOT get into Honors, got the email that they did. Laughing with you now, as it sounds like many of us saw our kids have the same stunned reaction tonight!

sad

My son will be relieved! He’s far from lazy but in no way looking for extra “work” during his freshman year

Sorry, I didn’t at all intend that to be insensitive & I apologize. My heart goes out to anyone who that letter really disappointed & I’m sorry that happened! I was only laughing at the thought of a bunch of our kids at the same time shocked to hear they got into honors w/o ever intending to apply.

No worries! I get it. This waiting has been so stressful; it’s nice to find some humor. But I understand how some could be disappointed.
