AU Girl- Are you there?

Thank you for being SO fantastic and answering all of our questions. You are really amazing.

I know you lived in Maxcy. My son is in 303-304. You had said that some room are big, and some are tiny. I tried calling the housing department to see the square footage (so we would know what to pack, rug size, etc) and they said that they don't have the specs for the individual rooms.

Do you know a way to find out the size of a room other than through housing? Is there a site with floor plans or anything like that?

Again- thank you SO MUCH for all of your info. I hope that Karma treats you well- you deserve it. :)

Well thanks so much! I appreciate it. :)

But I have no idea about the room size! I’m thinking back and I know that my suite-mates were in 105, so that means 104-103 would have been right beside them, so I’m guessing 303-304 would have been above them. If that’s the case, then as I recall, those were decent sized rooms… not huge, but not tiny either.

I don’t know why housing removed all of the floor plans, but I’ll see what I can do as far as finding one.

I know that on my old phone, I had downloaded the floor plans when I was at Orientation as a freshman (because every building’s complete plans were available on the Housing website), so I’ll check on there and let you know if I find anything!

Alright I found the plan.

303 is 162 square ft, making it one of the smallest rooms in the building. It’ll definitely be a tight squeeze.

304 is 217 sq. ft, which is a pretty decently sized room.

By comparison, my freshman room was 214 sq ft. In order to have open space, we lofted my bed. I put my desk underneath. My roommate put her bed and risers and her desk was against another wall. It wasn’t necessary to loft, but it left us with space to have friends over and room to walk.

It’d be necessary probably to bunk in the smaller room.

Hope this helps!

And anyone else who has questions, I somehow still have the plans for: Woodrow, Preston, Rutledge, and Wade Hampton.

There was a twitter reply on housing site that said they couldn’t publish maps due to safety concerns. I guess there was some issue… they were on the housing site as recently as this past spring.

Thank you so much!! You rock!
And thankfully my kid is in the larger room :)

Hey! I saw your post about the maps being down. if you take the link to the “broken” page (found on your self service housing page) and plug it into web.archive.org , you can look at the maps.

Does anyone recommend buying a rug for capstone dorm from school or just pick up a 4X8 at Target?
Thanks!

We got rugs for DD’s capstone room at Old Time Pottery…a 6x8 ($29.99) for the main part of the room and 2 smaller (11.99 ea) for the entry/closet area.

Great, Thanks! Any advice on size of mini-fridges? We live out of state and don’t know if we will have room in the car for the trip.

You can order for store pick up from Walmart if you don’t have room in car. I think the move-in list has size limit of refrigerator (maybe 5 cu. ft)…under list of maybe things to bring.

Thank you!
