I live in Houston, Texas. I didn’t get any mail yet
I got accepted today. Rhode Island
What is this alternate portal everyone is speaking of?
I’m in Western New York and got my acceptance package today. I was able to create a portal account yesterday, though. Here are my stats, in case they help someone else:
32 ACT
97% unweighted overall average
quite a few APs/dual enrollment classes
strong, diverse extracurriculars
strong Common App Essay
wrote the AU supplement
demonstrated some interest: campus visit & applied to Honors.
If there’s any info/help that I can provide anyone who’s still waiting, let me know. Best of luck to all!
Sooooo, my son’s portal now shows he has a $20K Presidential Scholarship (which we greatly appreciate, but is probably not going to be enough to swing attending American) as well as describing the standard $5500 loan in a way that would not be clear if we were not familiar with it. His portal shows admission, but no mention of Honors or what major he is accepted to. He submitted the Honors essays. No physical package yet.
We are in CA, top 5%, high GPA and SAT and rigorous course work. Decent, but not amazing, ECs.
i’m from oregon and got my acceptance package today! but they literally gave me 0 aid and scholarships and my family makes less than $40k a year so there’s no way i’m going there unless i appeal for more aid. good luck to everyone!
I have informed delivery and I’m in Northern CA, I don’t see anything coming, should I be concerned? Also what’s the acceptance rate to the PPL program? I’m relatively high stats but I have demonstrated a lot of interest.
Also, thoughts on acceptance: Applied for PPL, Honors and got rejected from FDDS. I’m a CLEG Major from CA with strong ECs, 4.1, 31 on the ACT and decent essays.

Acceptance packet reached Chicago, with no money it appears. BU is looking like the winner, but a couple more to hear from.
I received my package today in Northern VA. There was no indication of any sort of package on USPS informed delivery for today, so don’t worry if you don’t see it!
Waitlisted. NJ. Science major
35 ACT 3.9 GPA 5 APs
Good luck to all. Congrats on your acceptances.
He showed interest… Visited. Interviewed. Applied for Honors. Scheduled 2nd visit. I guess it’s Tufts Syndrome - they figured he would go elsewhere as someone said above and didn’t give him a spot. What they didn’t realize is that they told my son they wanted to build the science program so he was waiting for AU and would have accepted with the one of the merit packages people got on CC. And those other schools ? They did accept him but weren’t affordable. I think that’s the fallacy of turning down kids to protect yield - he got into lots of other schools but against those classes he was outside the merit range and didn’t get money so can’t afford them. AU was the match not BU, NEU, etc. I wish they had just asked him.
Congrats! After you logged in, where were you able to find the aid?
@BoroDad I’ve been trying to explain the yield protection to my frustrated son and exasperated wife. The policy seems self defeating and they are missing out in some really good kids. We have a school locally who does just the opposite. They offer $$ and accept the top kids even though it might not be choice 1, yield curve be damned. This whole process has been horrible but we’ve learned a lot and will be ready the next time. Good Luck to your son in whatever he chooses
i have informed delivery and my package didn’t show up on it. normally they don’t it’s really only small things or regular sized envelopes that show up on there so i wouldn’t be worried
I received my acceptance package in Florida today!
33 ACT, 4.35 gpa, VERY strong ecs and political intern, met with admissions rep at high school, applied for honors program, on campus for two week program (program was not run by the university but still)
waitlisted
@collegedad2018 I’m so sorry. It’s very frustrating to be denied/waitlisted when you have such great stats. AU has a 23% acceptance rate for RD, so over 75% of applicants get denied in the RD round. AU is very concerned about being seen as anyone’s safety - it’s not just yield protection. They told us in an ED presentation that they only want students who want to be at AU. It’s why they have an almost 90% acceptance rate for their ED1 round.
Finally received my official letter in southern California! Good luck to everyone who still hasn’t heard back
