Hello, I am a NMSF (Expecting finalist) who wants to go to Auburn. I live in TN, so OOS tuition is $26,000 and the NMF scholarship covers about $21,000 of it. I will be in COSAM (Pre-med) I have a 35 ACT and 4.1 GPA (weighted) What are my chances on departmental scholarships?

Not much. The school will likely feel that you already are getting the big scholarship and therefore they tend to reserve their very limited dept scholarships to other kids with high stats who aren’t NMF.

The exception would be if a dept (what is your major??) has an assured scholarship for stats.

IF you want a much better scholarship, apply to Alabama. It covers ALL of tuition (no $5k gap), gives housing for one year, study abroad money PLUS gives you $3500 per year, plus an iPad.

mom2collegekids is correct, Alabama offers better freshman scholarship money, especially for OOS. Auburn does have departmental scholarships available but I’m finding that, at least with engineering majors, they appear to offer those to existing students, sophomres and up. However, if you want to go to Auburn - and can afford it, it is a great school.
