Auburn University 2024 EA admission and applications

Thanks
Just found out he received and invite and just filed it away as he was not interested in another trip down there.

Always the last to know…lol

But is that for only Auburn First admissions?? The waves?

I can’t say with 100% certainty, but the impression I got from the email was that the AF kids would receive their official decisions along with everyone else. When my daughter entered the program last fall, there were 600 kids enrolled (high school sophomores, juniors & seniors.) If the intention of releasing in waves is to prevent technical issues as stated in the email, I can’t imagine releasing only those applications in waves would do much good because they would likely be such a small percentage of the total number of applications.

Wonder if we will hear before Friday since this Friday is officially Fall Break for Auburn. Fingers crossed

Breaks are for students, not administrators.

Last year S23 received his notification from EAII round on Friday 11/11 - came in an email late afternoon/early evening.

Many schools send out notifications (or update portals) on Friday’s at 5. Admissions hits the button and turns out the light as they leave for the weekend.

I noticed something interesting on Auburn’s website on their admissions page. They mention for those who are either deferred from EA to RD, or are simply applying RD, there is a writing supplement you can add to your application 150 words. No topic listed. But find it interesting. So I am thinking they are planning on many deferrals and then review more holistically with added supplement and fall grades.

That is really interesting, where did you see that as I have never seen that before. When my daughter applied for 2020 she had more stuff such as an essay topic from Auburn, recommendations actually counted etc. I am not surprised to hear this as sooo many have applied in recent years.

Where did you see that, just looked and couldn’t find it but I definitely could have missed it.

Daughter found it

Optional Supporting Statement & Secondary Review for Deferred and Regular Decision Applicants
The Fall 2024 secondary review includes an optional Supporting Statement . This is an opportunity for applicants to submit additional information to be considered during the admissions review. The optional supporting statement can provide more information about the applicant’s experiences, give context for academic history and preparedness or interest in the listed academic major. This information will be used to better understand the applicant, their grade trends and class choice on the high school transcript, testing information, the applicant’s interest in or preparedness in a particular field of study, or their interest in Auburn University as it relates to their field of study and goals upon graduation. The optional supporting statement is limited to 150 words, taken into consideration with academic preparedness, and is not the defining reason for admission or financial aid awards.

It’s interesting if you look at last years EA thread when stats were posted and whether they were admitted or deferred. It wasn’t always the highest GPA or test scores that were admitted. Makes it hard to predict.

I also think the new supporting statement if deferred is “weeding out” those who are not as interested and just applied because common app gave easier access

Has anyone received invites to Fall Preview Day for a specific college? I applied to the Exercise Science program and received the invite from the College of Education today. I did the regular and departmental tour over the summer and was wondering if this was something I should attend to show interest.

Does the application status change from “Awaiting Decision” to “Decision Pending Release” a day or so before decisions come out?

No idea. Son applied and then waited for the email with the notification.

Friend’s kid got an email of portal update around 815 tonight.

Child got deferred. So bummed. 3.97 GPA. 8 APS. Tons of activities and leadership.

Does anyone know if they only hear decision now after March if they have been deferred or if they could hear before then in one of the other EA rounds?

Also, we already made arrangements to go to War Eagle Day. Do you think going will help with admissions decision in future?

Total rejection for me…it’s all good. I’ll end up where I’m supposed to be  I’ve got 5 acceptances with great merit awards and have 11 more applications I’m waiting on.

D23 had a friend who was deferred last year. I believe he wrote an extra essay or letter to auburn explaining that it was his top choice and i’m fairly sure he heard back before March. Not that the letter/ essay put him over the top but I’d encourage any deferred student to do something similar.
